The reality is that neither Canada nor the U.S. should have been in Afghanistan in the first place.Despite American propaganda, there was no connection between Afghanistan and the 9/11 attacks. The 'terrorists" were people who had fought off the attacks of Russia on their country. The U.S. saw this as a chance to move in and steal natural resources (which is what Russia had been trying to do in Afghanistan.)
Canada's role was despicable. We sent troops to fight and die in a war that had nothing to do with Canada. It was Canada's role there to kiss the asses of American billionaires.It is desgraceful that Canadian news media never reported what that war was really about, and never reported on the Canadian role. And it was disgraceful that the Canadian government offered up our military for such a purpose.
What next?
Don't rule out the strong possibility of an American attack on Canada, especially to take advantage of the separatist movements in Quebec and Alberta - and to get American territory up into Canada's farthest north which has become attractive because of climate change and because of it's potential resources.
Since 1945, Canada has become an obedient puppet to the U.S. But there is no obedience that is enough to satisfy the greed of American capitalists.
You think the U.S. would never do such a thing to it's neighbour? Take a look at what it's been doing to it's Latin American neighbours for the last 120 wears.

It was thirty years ago that we first learned of the destruction our planet faces. And since then we have done???
Nothing. The super rich of thirty years ago have blocked every attempt to deal with this crisis. And they are the same ruthless bastards as today who give every indication of another thirty years of lying, of buying politicians and news media....

Throughout history, almost all wars have been fought to benefit the super rich. In World Wars One and Two that was true of both sides - though our news media never mentioned that aspect of it. (No. Those wars were not fought because Germans were evil and we were good. Nor were they fought to save Jews and Gypsies.)

Afghanistan, the war that we Canadians sent Canadians to die in. They died (and killed) to enrich American capitalists. Canadians should be deeply ashamed about this. Canadians should also tell Americans to fight their own wars. (And politicians should be ashamed of their role.)
But no. And the Canadian commercial news media have never even whimpered about this. And the response of Canada's leading war historian? As usual, he has said nothing but servile praise of our masters.

Again, there is not much news that is both useful and available -and this as a whole world is collapsing. The U.S. is fading fast as a world power and even as a nation. But the fading U.S., even if it can't win wars, still has stockpile, including nuclear weapons, to kill in millions and perhaps billions. And the greed of it's super-rich could be horribly destructive even as their power fades.
Meanwhile, in the 'quiet wars', milliions are dying in Africa and Latin America, dying from hunger, disease, imposed hopelesness
And climate change? It's happening. It's real. And the super-rich refuse to even think of dealing with it. We have very little time, so little it may already be too late.
