September 29: The price of our pandering to the super rich.

My home province, Ontario, has a premier who is Donald Trump's twin brother. His name is Doug Ford.

https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2020/sep/23/aid-agencies-warn-of-covid-19-crisis-in-refugee-camps-as-winter-approaches

Our wars have pushed tens of millions - probably more - into starvation. That's why so many flee to Europe to be tossed into primitive camps and there, quite probably, to die. Our news media give us little sense of the horror we have created. And it's going to get worse, much, much worse.

Millions of civilians and children have died in wars that were not in defence. Commonly these have been wars - unlike what our news media tells us - have nothing to do with defence. They are wars that are fought to steal land and resources for billionaires (who don't pay for the wars. They leave that part up to us.) That's why, for example, the U.S. raises money from it's citizens - so they can die in these wars to make capitalists richer.

How many wars? Nobody knows. The official figure for the U.S. is 40. But nobody knows what the real figure is. Very often our news media don't name even the 40 wars, How many of those wars can you name?

That has created glorious profits for the weapons industries. Even losing wars pay off for them. Think of the 20 year war in Aghanistan. Afghanistan, despite the panicky reports of our news media, had nothing to do with 9/11 in News York - and the American government knew it. (The attack on New York was carried out by our good friends in Saudi Arabia.)

The American government knew that. That war was fought to steal control of Afghanistans mining resources and make American capitalists happy. All the American oil fields in the middle east were taken by murdering the people of the middle east. The constant wars in that part of the world have, since 1945, been created to please the American super rich.

Incidentally, Canadian soldiers have died to satisfy the greed of American capitalists. That was true of the Korean War, Afghanistan and, to a lesser degree, the middle east. Oh, and that little squabble when Canadian troops were used to destroy democracy in Haiti. Where the hell, I wonder, was The Canadian Legion in all this? Wasn't it supposed to help our military?

Among the democracies the U.S. has attacked was Cuba which,  until Castro, was governed by American gangsters and extraordinarily murderous gangsters. In Guatemala, an American' army drawn from thugs all over the world was used to murder hundreds of thousands of priests, missionaires and nuns. The American commander was George W. Bush Sr. who, like his son. was a devout Christian.

And then there's Venezuela. It's sin was deciding for itself who would sell it's oil to. Among others, it wanted to sell it to China. O-o-o-o naughty. In fact, Venezuela should be a good Latin American country - effectively owned and controlled by American billionaires. So the U.S. introduced a new policy - Venezuela was not allowed. Like most of Latin America,Venezuela was to give up control of it's own oil,  American owners would take over. And, like the rest of good Latins, it would also exist only to make money for American billionaires - meaning it would be steeped in poverty, terrible working conditions.  And low, low, low wages.

We humans are born greedy and murderous. That's not nearly so true of other animals. Scholars suggest this happened because humans developed larger brains than any other animal. That's why we have, for thousands of years, exploited each other and murdered each other,  That's why British humans murdered over 400 million people in their empire. That's why the British saw there empire as being the property only of the wealthy British. At the height of empire, most British citizens got nothing of the plunder - but lived on in filth and ignorance. That's why American troops murder Latin Americans who try to improve their lives.

The rich in the U.S. (and Canada) live in mansions. Most of the rest of us work for the lowest possible wages - millions of Americans and Canadians now live on the streets. Oh, there's money around. But it's in the hands of the super rich who give money only to each other  and who pay little in taxes.

And that attitude is taking us to the final days.

Sorry for this long intrusion. But you won't find it in your local news media.

Assange's reporting on U.S. killings was right and legal. But the U.S. wants him either dead or locked away in solitary for the rest of his life. And Britain is helping the U.S. as it so often has by doing the dirty work. (And The Manchester Guardian hasn't mentioned it.)

Now, I breaking off because it's getting late, and I spent a lot of the time drawing attention early to a sample of our vicious, human character. We were going to make a better world, so we were told, in 1945. In fact, our leaders have concentrating on a vicious world to meet the greed of our wealthy class. Off hand, I don't know of a single war since 1945 that was justified. All of them, open and secret, have been to serve the greed of our very wealthy.

9/27/2020: The real news.

Sorry this blog is so late. But yesterday was a family day.As well, today's blog is different because I have to write - not about our news but about the news we haven't been getting from our news media

Having a tough time with bills and job security? Relax. It'a all for the good of the super rich. The richest 1% of Americans have, since 1950 and later, taken $50 TRILLI|ON dollars from the bottom 90% of  Americans. (Canadians are shyer. But the Canadian figures would be similar.)

And get this....American wages and Canadian wages would be TWICE AS HIGH today if they had kept up with output since 1950. Betcha you never heard about that in your newspapers. While a tiny group at the top have been getting far, far richer, the rest of us have been getting poorer. And that's  truer than ever, especially in the western countries.  (China,  incidentally, for all it's very bad treatment of some groups, has in general exploded into higher wages and better housing by far.)

As well, most of us peasants have to pay monstrous taxes fpr the wars of the super rich. There is no official figure for all the wars since 1945. The low estimate just for the U.S. has been 40 wars since 1945 - though the real figure is much, much higher, particularly since the U.S. commonly doesn't go to war in any official sense.

Somebody has to pay for those wars. And somebody is not the rich. All wars are paid for by the taxpayers. All profits from the wars go to the super rich (who pay almost no taxes.)

An forget the crap about brave lads fighting for their countries. The Americans (and Canadians and British) who fought in Afghanistan and Korea were fighting for billionaires - nobody else. So all of us are taxed even more to kill for the rich.

Was North  Korea a threat to us? Get real. Was South Korea a land of democracy and freedom? Well, as a matter of fact, South Korea was a dictatorship ruled by men who had cooperated with Japan in World War Two. It was outstandingly murderous toward it's own people - and remained that way for years after the Korean war.

Meanwhile, the U.S. used  a stratagy of  war that concentrated on killing the most helpless - children, civilians in general. No, I am not making this up. The U.S. has concentrated on mass murder. (In fairness, it was scarcely the first to do that, Winston Churchill had been a pioneer of mass murder of the innocents in Kurdish towns in the 1920's and many more millions in  India.) In 1945, American pilots concentrated on bombing residential districuts. of North Korea.

The purpose of attacking North Korea? To establish a base for the re-conquest of China, and the good old days of plundering the people of China. (Yes. China has become pretty evil. And that has been made worse by western hostility and plundering that has been going on for over 200 years.)

American greed led to even greater butchery of innocents. In the 1950s and 60s, George W. Bush Sr. led an army of killers into a peaceful Guatemala     , specializing in murdering Catholic priests, nuns, missionaries. By the end of it, he had murdered hundreds of thousands of them - as well as parishoners who got in the way.  That story has NEVER appeared in any North American commercial news medium.

Of course, it helps that Christian churches never mention this. In 2,000 years, they have yet to reognize Christianity. German Christians supported Hitler. American churches supported the mass murder of native peoples that started with George Washington. Canadian churches accepted the killing and the theft of land from native peoples.

In 2,000 years of wars and mass murder, Christians seem to become critical only when the other side does it.

At the end of 1941, the U.S. entered World War 2. Why? No. It wasn't Pearl Harbour. The U.S. had planned a war with Japan long before Pearl Harbour. That was clear much earlier when it cut off oil to Japan. (It wanted Japan to attack so the U.S.could respond with a conquest of the Pacific region - including the British colonies of China and India.  It just underestimated Japaneses response.)

It then entered to the war against Germany. That wasn't to help Britain. It was. among other things, to steal the British oil fields of the middle east. And it worked.

Almost always, wars are fought to benefit the very rich. The British Empire was like that. At the height of the British Empire, most of the the British people lived in poverty, filth and misery. Only the super rich did well out of the empire.

The U.S. and Canada are repeating that. In seventy years, the super rich have been getting richer. And you can be sure they will continue to prosper. For those seventy years, the rest of us have been getting poorer. We're now reaching rock bottom with millions in Canada and the U.S. sleeping in the streets and fields, That wasn't done by the Chinese or the Russians. It was done by the super rich whose incomes have actually risen in recent years even as their tax breaks go wild.

There is no money for the poor who, increasingly, are homeless. Premier Doug Ford of Ontario (who is Canada's Donald) Trump has actually shown an interest in private schools. Despite their reputation, such schools are not superior to public ones. But they are profitable to their wealthy owners - and they take away funding that would be useful for public schools. And so it is that the very rich rob us blind, and destroy any hope for the vast majority of the population.

Why do we behave this way? Why do further enrich the super rich while millions are starving and miserable? Why are we constantly fighting wars? Why are we destroying the earth that our children have to live in as it - very soon - cannot sustain the lives of our children? Why do we tolerate the dishonesty (and viciousness) of our upper classes? (Let's get real. The very rich have been robbing us for thousands of years. We now have, maybe, twenty years or so to salvage this planet. The very rich are already planning for a terrible decline as they build expensive shelters stockpiled for themselves.)

The answer lies somehere in the earliest history of humans. From the start, humans were attuned to plundering from each other. Animals did that, too - but only for immediate need of food. Humans go far beyond that. So it is to this day as animal stocks are in decline.

I have called this pattern evil - and so it is. Humans use their thinking power to destroy each other. They always have. And now, we are very close to the end of this road. That's why our governments allow the super rich to escape most taxes. That's why the poor simply get tossed into the streets. That's why whatever money we have must go to pay for wars that benefit the super rich. Why does the U.S. have the largest defence budget in the world? To hold off enemies? Get real. With one, brief exception, the U.S. has not been threatened for over seventy years. And the U.S. has attacked an uncountable number of nations just in the last 120 years- all over Latin America, the middle east, wherever there is something to steal.

And as our soldiers march off, the Canadian Legion always backs the super rich rather than the soldiers. Why did the Legion cheer for the Candians who died in Afghanistan? That was a war that had nothing to do with Canada. Nor were the Afghans notably evil or aggressive. Nor is there any evidence that the Afghanis had anything to do with 9/11. All that talk was to give the U.S. an excuse to invade Afghanistan for it's valuable resources.

What did that have to do with Canada? Similarly, Canada,at the bidding of the U.S., decided that Canadians should destroy the elected government of Haiti. And so they did. The Legion should have defended Candians. Instead, Canadians became hired killers for U.S. billionaires. a task Canadians also took on in Korea, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Canadian soldiers died -with not a peep out of the Legion.

More, many more Canadians are likely to die in American wars in, say, Latin America - and China. And the Canadian Legion will clap hands.

This is all something I have written about before. Us humans are evil. That's very much a part of us, and a constant feature of our history. That's why over the years, we have suffered the  highly demanding evil of tribal leaders who whip us into our wars. That's why we suffered the years of horrible abuse by Kings and Emperors, then of aristocracy, and now of capitalists. That's why the major capitalists today wallow in trillions of dollars they acquire by not paying taxes. And that's why many, many millions are going to suffer death from starvation - yes, right here in North America. And much, much worse in other parts of the world.

One might hope that the Christian churches will have an impact on this. Alas! They have never done so at any time in the last 2,000 years.

Damn. This is not well written. Thus the many and painful hours it took me to write it. I had to write it because our 'news' media won't.

________________________________________________________________

Oh, a footnote. Think of all the weaponry of 1900 to today. 1900 saw balloons. Now it's jets. Ships with cannons are now outclassed by floating air ports.Rockets didn't exist in 1900.Now, they fly for thousands of miles carrying nuclear bombs.

Hiroshima killed hundreds of thousands. A modern nuclear bomb can kill hundreds of times that. And it can fly for thousands of miles.

The reality is that, at this pace, a nuclear bomb can kill millions of people. The reality is that we have passed the age of warfare. Our killing capacity is now almost equal to destroying the whole planet.

And that's going to get worse very, very soon. The development of weaponry is so destructive that a war with, say China, would be idiocy. Anybody who talks war is a fool.

But we've a long history of fools.

Sept 24: growing up stupid

https://rabble.ca/blogs/bloggers/views-expressed/2020/09/pandemic-has-cleared-way-doug-fords-plans-privatize-education

I grew up in a working class district. It was assumed, quite casually, that my first year classmates and I would never graduate from high school. Indeed, only one ever did. (And it wasn'r me.)The Jewish district of the time was near me It had a very high graduation. rate though, like my district it was poor. Why was that different from us working class children? It was because Jewish parents expected them to do well in school. Jewish kids grew up believing they could do well - unlike us goys who grew up believing we lacked brains.

Later, after after flunking high school, I spent three years in a miserable job.figuring it was all I was good for.  And my parents, like all the parents in that district, accepted that I had found my proper station. Then I somehow got a job as an elementary school teacher, and then as a university professor.

The children of the rich are raised to believe in their right to higher education. The children of the poor are raised to believe they have no intellectual ability.

And so we are raised to believe in our feeble mindedness.

Doug Ford's plan of education is a disaster for Ontario children. He wants to encourage (those who can afford it) to attend private schools. In my experience, these are not better schools. But, oh, they do wonders for egos. And, oh, they make lots of money for school owners.

And those who can't afford private schools? Who gives a damn?

We are what we think we are. Graduates of private schools think they're hot stuff.

Graduates of public schools commonly have low self esteem. What needs to be done is to raise the self-esteem and thus the ambitions of the poor.

And what is Doug Ford's ambition? To create schools that make the rich richer.

Julian Assange is a reporter who never lived or worked in the U.S. The reporting he did was quite legal. But the U.S. wants him extradited from Britain to spend the rest of his life in an American prison. And Britain, which now spends its time crawling to the U.S.

The U.S has no authority to imprison a man for an act not committed in the U.S. Britain has no right to hand over a man who has not committed a crime in Britain.

As well, the 'offensive' reporting he committed was true, and it was quite legal report on it. But Assange has already suffered a high degree of mental brutality, something that obvious in any picture of him. The U.S. will put him into a prison, finish the job there of destoying him. Rule Britannia. God bless America.

And it's quite true - The Guardian has been pretty silent on this.

Now I need to take a break because I still don't know how to use this computer, and I get get instruction for many hours. (The computer went dumb on a report critical of The Guardian. The report says The Guardian, for all it's criticism of other news media is stunningly silent on the trial of Assange. So I checked. And, oh, it's true.I'll still use it - but with more caution than I have in the past.

Sadly, all news media are pretty silent on the role of our super rich. They are the greatest danger facing us. As always they are the greatest killers (especially of civilians and children). in this world. As their profits continue to grow, they avoid taxes while millions in Canada  and the U.S. - and all over this world suffer and die. They are, by far, this world's most greedy and evil. And that has been the case since the earliest of humans on this earth.

To this day, they murder and plunder all over this world.

But we - and our news media (and our churches) have never paid any attention to them. They are the greatest evil in this world. And they are very close to destroying all of us. (But the U.S. has long had a record of electing them as presidents.) That's true of American Republicans and Democrats as both parties have always been kind to the super rich. It's also true of Canada's Liberals and Conservatives.

We're showering wealth on a very small number while children sleep in the streets. .That's been the history of Canada, the U.S., Britain.... And that's now combined with the massive destructive power -  far, far the greatest in human history...._______________________----------------------------------------------

Sept. World - go away.

 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/alberta-bitumen-sturgeon-refinery-nwrp-1.5718044

As I have said many times, our super rich exist largely to plunder us. This has been true for thousands of years. And this has been a constant for all those years. For the super rich, they use the rest of us to fight wars for them. I don't know how far it goes back, but it's been a constant policy for thousands of years.

That's why Romans fought and died for their emperors in wars that would benefit only the rich and powerful. The rest were tossed aside as street rabble as soon as they were no longer needed. The wealthy of the British Empire exploited the 'common rabble' to fight their wars, killing over 400 million. None of the plunder of that empire would ever reach the mass of British population who lived in filth and hunger, and were dumped aside when no longer needed.

That's still the pattern with the U.S. empire whose wars are never for the American people, but for the super rich who control their governments to pay for their wars. All the American wars going back to the pilgrims were fought by the poor to enrich the already rich.

Incidentally, China is a country that has the highest rate of affordable housing in the world. That's because China's government - whatever it's faults - is designed to benefit the people of China. The U.S. government (rather like Canada) puts all it's effort into serving the super rich. That's why so many Canadians and Americans sleep in the streets.

For the rich, we are here to be plundered by the rich, and governments exist to fight their wars. I've called that evil and, that surely, is what it is. As I write this, uncountable numbers of people have been kicked out of their homes to eat, to sleep, to die in the streets. In the same period, In the same period, the super rich have actually been getting richer, largely on government handouts. One of the foulest of this super rich is Mr. Irving of New Brunswick - and the people of New Brunswick are the most foolish because they elected govrnments to throw money at the Irvings.

I have called this sort of thing evil - and I have no apologies for that. From the beginning of human social organization. the super rich have been robbing us blind.

It's not kings and emperors. But the same sort of people have been exploiting us from as far back as we know. I've called it evil. And so it is. It's the great failing of human civilization - this time, perhaps, forever.

As for homelessness, the figures are changing rapidly. There are now somewhere over 6.5 million for Canada and perhaps some 35 million in the U.S. But who cares about that? The important thing is that the super rich are richer than ever - And that's the history of the ugliest side of  human life and evil on this planet.

Besides, those numbers are going to shoot up unless we make the Irvings of this planet pay their own way. But good luck on that. The people of New Brunswick just voted their government in - and it was one of the two, ugliest parties in that province. We need to free ourselves from the evil of the super-rich. They are evil,     quite wretchedly so.

And yet we always support them.

Well, I still  have a lot to learn about this new blogger systerm I'm using. For a start, each entry so far takes me over a half hour. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I'll be getting some advice on how to get more info into a full day of work

In the meantime, it's possible (even likely) that it will become more divided, more violent not only before but after the election. And, no matter who gets elected, that will lead to even greater violence. And Canadians are very close to any American violence Above all, the world is in great danger of a nuclear war with China and Russia. And this will involve far, far more destructive nuclear weapons than at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

(The U.S. will need such a war very soon as it is a nation in very serious decline, and China is on a rise so spectacular (something our news media aren't telling us) that the destruction of such a war would be the worst ever known.

The war, of course would involve Canada. The U.S. would insist on that as it has insisted on Canada sending troops to Korea, to the middle east, to the Russian border, and to Afghanistan. In fact, the U.S has fought at least fifty wars since 1945 - and American capitalists, with their Canadian counterpart capitalists, will be pressing for more wars. All of these wars are being fought for the personal profit of American capitalists with their Canadian counterparts tagging along - as in Latin America.

But our news media never tell the whole story. We are the victims and the stooges of capitalist wars. And  that behaviour has been built into us from the earliest days of primitive humans. It's the curse of being human. It's the curse that gave us kings, emperors, aristocrats and capitalists. They have been abusing us for uncounted thousands of years - and using us to die and to kill for them.

Enough. It's been a long day. I'm not even going to proofread this one. I just want to get away.

Sept. 18: A horrible day

 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/02/why-concentration-camps-are-still-with-us

Concentration camps were first developed by Spain, Britain and the U.S. about 1900.

They were designed to humiliate and demoralize and, yes, to kill their prisoners. And that is still what they exist for

__________________________________________________________________

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44585716

These are concentration camps today. The American base at Guantanamo is a concentration camp. And it features torture. There are almost certainly American concentration camps in the Middle East. Along the U.S./Mexico border, Latin American children are put into cells -  separated from their parents and under horrible conditions.

As well, the U.S.army is  creating concentration camps all over the U.S. to deal with Americans who might become "disobedient". And these are designed to deal with hundreds of thousands - and more - of Americans.

Watch for the U.S. assault on China - which Canada will be requested (and will agree) to participate in. It will have to be a nuclear war, and will be fought with nuclear weapons of far greater power than those of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Canadian corporation bosses are close to American ones. So we now really have much the same bullying and plundering one sees in the U.S. (New Brunswickers recently proved this by voting for a political party that is as viciously corrupt and servile as America's Democrats and Republicans. So it is that Canada's Liberals and Conservatives are kissing the rear ends of the country's greedy and plundering super rich. Gee. Why does the Irving name spring to mind?)

_________________________________________________________________

https://www.cbc.ca/news/opinion/opinion-democracy-pandemic-united-nations-1.5723288https

_________________________________________________________________

I'm going to break (early) now. because I'm still learning how to use this system - and I've been treading close to problems.

As nearly as I can tell, the U.S. is heading for terrible trouble and public violence no matter who wins the election. And I don't think Canada will be able to avoid that.

Among other things, American capitalists be demanding an invasion of China - which will have to be nuclear - and, far, far more powerful than the weapons used at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Canada will be asked (told) to join the invasion and it's levels of destruction that we can only guess at.

Does China have prison camps? I'm sure it does. So does the U.S. - though we don't hear about ours. We don't hear about the torture at Guantanamo. or Iraq. Indeed, U.S. prison camps almost certainly have more prisoners than Chinese ones do. At the same time, poverty has been created all over the U.S. It's going to be worse, much worse, as most American super-rich actually do better (and they are doing better now) in a nation filled with poverty. And that is likely to mean more death camps in the U.S.

To bad The Canadian Legion has never got over it's role as cheerleader for all this.

Instead, it chooses to cheer for the billionaires who betrayed all that Canadians fought for when I was a child.

The New Blog

Recently,  this blog has become impossible. But I now have discovered a new system. Below are sections in blue. touching them will (I hope) reveal news items.

As always, my purpose is to reveal news stories from reliable sources. Most of the commercial news media have never been reliable.  They have been owned by people of wealth who used the news to propagandize (lie) for their owners. With very few exceptions, this is still true. Indeed, the only reliable commercial print news is the Guardian and Israel's Haaretz.  For radio news, the BBC originally was honest. But those days have long been over. In Canada, CBC is under constant pressure from management to lie - and that's been going on for many years.

Many of the sources I present are the creations of retired journalists who have wanted to tell the truth, but weren't allowed to. Rabble.ca is one of those. It will also present the opinions of people that the commercial news media prefer to ignore - like David Suzuki. (Though Suzuki is a scientist of considerable note on matters like climate change, most commercial news media prefer not to use people who know what they are  talking about.)

Remember, touching the blue labels below will reveal the story. And, please, let me know what you think of this system.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This has lots to do with climate  change - which our conventional news media prefer not to talk about.

Yes. Climate change is real. And it will soon affect this whole planet. But most of our news media refuse to recognize that. Alberta's oil industry refuses to recognize it.And P.M. Trudeau does nothing.

I'm going to stop here because I need to learn more about this system. In particular, I need to learn how to speed up this system. As it is I'm spending far too much time getting each site done.

The news is very, very bad.The U.S. is suffering from a severe climate change. It's a rise of only  degrees - but even that is way above the danger line. The governor of California says he expects that a great many Californians will flee the state - and come to Canada.

That's almost a certainty. And American capitalists are almost certain to take over large sections of a melting Arctic for it's more easily available resources. U.S. capitalists also need more wars. In 1945, they looked foreword to a world that they would conquer and plunder as they had already done in Latin America. But that dream has fallen on bad times.

It is possible, even likely, that American capitalists will now launch a war against China. But the U.S. is the country that, despite massive spending on the military, has not been impressive in most of its wars. Any such war would have to be nuclear with a scale of death and destruction this world has never seen.

Oh, and American capitalists will, of course, demand that Canada take part in the war as it did in Afghanistan, Korea, in much of the middle east. Too bad the Legion has never understood that it was intended to be a leader in ensuring that we fight only when we have to. Instead, it has been a cheerleader for war - any war.

Canadians died for no good reason in Afghanistan and Korea - and the Legion clapped hands.Politically, we face a future much like the past - only worse. Thousands of years ago, us humans began the practice of getting other humans to die for us - usually in order to steal land and resources.

That's where Kings and emperors developed - exploiting masses of the poor to kill and plunder for them. And yes, that's what world wars one AND two were about.

The U.S. WANTED a war against Japan. The new kings and emperors who were by then democrats and Republicans saw their chance to plunder China as the British had. American plunderers wanted to capture the British oil lands, notably in Africa. (They lost China, but got the middle east.)

These new 'kings' and 'emperors' are the people we call capitalists. They commonly own whole countries - like the U.S. and Canada. Commonly, they pay few to no taxes. Commonly, they demand governments give them billions of dollars of our money - as in the case of Alberta oil fields and New Brunswick's Irving family. Commonly, we hand out billions to the super rich who own the news media that lie to us.

And that's why families, including children, live on the streets, and have nothing to eat. That's why whole countries in this world don't have enough food to live on. And - again going back thousands of years, this is a game we've  played of exploiting the poor to enrich the super rich.

Well, please let me know what you think of the new format. ( I still have much to learn about it.)  Remember - click on the blue sentences to get the news site.)

To readers of this blog

For viewers of the blog dealing with current events, I am having desperate problems with this site. I cannot make contact with the topic. Indeed, I don't seem to be able to make contact with anything.

For those who might recognize it,  my name is 0raeme Decarie. and been stuck on a blog for several days.  It's as though some letters have been wrongly stuck in it for several days - and are damned if they will leave. Any thoughts?

Sept.10: Evil

So, as I sit here in my worthless self, I shall write about evil--an evil that has a history as long as human existence.

Evil is very much a part of our daily lives and our history. And it is very much a part of our existence today.

As I've written before,-- evil is very much a human characteristic. Animals are not evil. They can be fierce. But that is part of the process of getting food to stay alive. We are pretty fierce, too. in killing animals for our food. That's not evil. That's survival.

But the deliberate and constant abuse of other animals of their own species seems to be peculiar to humans - and it seems to go all the way back to the first appearance of homo sapiens. From the start, we humans have enslaved, abused, starved other humans. (Show me an animal--say a cat--who is evil and abuses other cats. Such things happen, almost always on a small and temporary scale. But human evil is massive.)

Enslavement, mass murder have always been characteristics of us humans. And that makes us unique among all the animals.

Scholars suggest this happened with the earliest humans, and has only worsened with the years. And it has been a characteristic of humans - on a grander scale with the earliest years. Nor has religion been the slightest deterrent. Indeed, the churches have almost always been supporters of mass murder and plunder - that was true of the Jews of ancient Egypt who murdered their way to the 'promised' land, It was true of the Romans. It was true of our ancestors who murdered indigenous people to steal their land. The British Empire was quite possibly the most brutal empire in history, murdering some 400 million people, and brutalizing the survivors. And the Anglican church in all this? It clapped hands for the killers. Winston Churchill was as evil a killer as one could hope to find. He deliberately starved at least 3 million people in India to death. He was a pioneer in the aerial bombing of undefended,  civilian villages in his 1920 bombing of Kurd villages and towns. He also, with the U.S., pioneered the bombing of civilians as in Dresden. The U.S. airforce since then has made it a practice to target civilians, especially children, in all of its bombing since 1945.

And it's nuclear bombing? A pioneering effort in the deliberate killing of civilians and children. It is now toying with the idea of a nuclear war on China which would kill many, many millions. Oh, joy, say Christians as their churches prepare to bless the bombs.

Hitler ( who had the blessing of Christian churches in Germany and of German Christians) almost exterminated the Jews. Would Canada or Britain or the U.S. have done such a thing?

Think hard. The governments of those countries knew damn well what was happening to the Jews. And they refused to offer shelter to those Jews who escaped both before and during the war. We made a big noise about how shocked we were to learn of the death camps. Hell! We knew about it from the start. And we still refused to accept Jews. Canada would not accept them until three years AFTER the war. Britain was more honest. It created Israel to get rid of its own Jews.

The U.S. incidentally, spent some 15 years of the 1950's and 60's murdering Guatemala's Christians - including priests and nuns. It did away with some 200,000 of them. (No. It never to this day has made our news media.) The director of this mass murder, by the way, was the church-going George Bush Sr.

The Christian churches, as usual, said nothing. Ever heard a  sermon criticizing our murderous ways? Not bloody likely.

And all that is entering a worse phase.

The very,  very wealthy Bill Gates has been commissioned by the governor of New York to upgrade the New York school system, the largest school system in the U.S. His qualifications to do that? None. He has no training as a teacher. So what will he do with the schools?

He'll play the old educational game of propagandizing them. When I was a kid in school, we saluted the British flag and pledged allegiance to the king of England for whom we fought three wars. The first was the Boer War which was none of our business. Then there were two world wars, both of them we were trained to right for God Bless the King. (Yes. I know Hitler was evil. But the record of the British Empire was even worse.)

Then, very abruptly, the Union Jack at the head of the classroom came down as Canadians learned to forget the empire and serve the U.S. empire. Thus the Canadians served a new master in the form of the American Empire. And so Canadians have served - and died - to please our new king, the president of the U.S. in Korea, Afghanistan, Latin America (notably Haiti where we helped destroy democracy). We fight for our American owners, not the British ones anymore, in places like the middle east and, most recently, in the United Arab Emirates. We help American billionaires plunder the region's oil fields. This is the old game of fighting for our master. If The Legion were serious about caring for our military, it would be asking questions about why we have troops fighting for the profit of foreign billionaires.

So what will Bill Gates do for New York school students? He'll play the old and evil game of propagandizing the children to fight and die for "their" country, to produce more generations of Americans who fall for the game of learning to hate in order to make money for the rich.

That has been the pattern of human life for thousands of years with the leadership and power of the human race geared to carry out it's evil. We are now at the final stage of greed and manipulation. We are now at the stage at which our evil, manipulating leaders can take us into the final war.

Evil. It all began long ago, so it is said, with the creation of Homo Sapiens, a human with a larger brain than other creatures. That larger brain gave us greater intellectual power to manipulate each other. Now, combined with so much else that our more powerful minds can do we have the final power - to destroy ourselves.

Unlike all other creatures. our brains give us the power to be evil.

Please. I know this sounds crazy. Okay. Tell me another animal with a brain that makes it capable of developing nuclear weapons, of sponsoring world migrations, of devising religions...

Only we have the power to be evil.

The Decarie Report Sept. 7

 Sept. 7:

I am running late because  I ran into some computer problems. I hope to have them repaired on Sept, 8, and have the blog ready late on September 10.

Meanwhile, I am dismayed by a factor in all the research sites. In the 1950s, as major corporations recovered from the war - and the years of poverty that preceded it - the leading super-rich, especially in the U.S. and Canada,  organized their control over economic activities in North America. Their control had always been there. But they greatly magnified it, leaving democracy - never very strong in Canada and the U.S. - a dead letter.

The super rich took over full control of Democrats, Republicans, Liberals and Conservatives. And they took over the operation of Canadian and American life.

The took over what, much earlier, had been the control exercised by an aristocracy. And they have held that control every since. That's why, to this day, the very rich of Canada and the U.S will let children starve in the streets while the super rich can ask for and receive gifts of billions of dollars even as they refuse to pay taxes, and even though they have made bigger profits than ever in this year of pain and illness for the rest of us.

(For a sample of this greed and arrogance, check out the Irvings of New Brunswick.)

The super rich throughout history have abused, starved, plundered the rest of us. It's the chief characteristic of human life. In it's pesent form we call if capitalism. And we have suffered for it. And now, oh, our children are going to suffer - unless we grow some spine.

Sept. 5: The disaster that is my life.:

I'm still having trouble getting my items onto the page. However, there is one thing I can do. I can apologize to Israel.

No. I don't like Netanyahu. No, I don't like Israel's abuse of Palestinians. But...

I begin to understand it.

When World War Two ended, the Jews of Europe had been more than abused by ALL of the western powers, an  abuse that continued for several years after the war. Britain, Canada, the U.S. refused to help European Jews before the war and during it. They pretended surprise at the death camps. But,  in fact, they had known all about the death camps almost from the start. They refused to help Jews who escaped the holocaust. When the victorious allies created Israel for the Jews, it wasn't to help the Jews. It was to get rid of them.

And Europe's Jews were well aware of that. And they carried that awareness with them.

The lesson for Jews before, during and after the war was that the world hated them.

And they came to hate the world right back. And they remembered and still remember what the western world did to them. (Canada, for several years after the war would still not accept Jews.)

No. I do not like Netanyahu. I don't like Israel's treatment of Palestinians. But at last I understand it. Israel, at its worst, is our creation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, my blog as it is will not get us anywhere. The problem is that most sections need articles I select from sources I can put in by pushing a button. Suddenly, that's not working. So tomorrow (Sunday)  , after a frustrating today,I shall be taking it in to the computer hospital and, with luck, be ready for the Tuesday session.

Sept.5:: repairs successful?

Let's start with a change of pace.

We humans are murderous bastards. We have have been from the start. Yes, other animals kill each other - usually to eat. We kill on a far greater scale - not just for food but for theft, for power, for control. Animals, for the most part kill just to eat.We kill for the sense of power and wealth. And for that purpose we enslave and/or propagandize our own kind.

There's a pattern here. Let's get real. We don't usually kill for defence. We kill for power and for wealth. Just about every war I have ever heard of has been a war against our own kind to plunder and abuse.

The American wars in the west of what is now the U.S. were wars of murder to eliminate  the native peoples.- - and in so doing, Hitler was simply copying the American holocaust as his model for murdering Jews.

In the same way, the British empire wars -like those of France, the Netherlands and Belgium were wars of plunder and murder. Indeed, these countries horribly abused millions to enrich the already super rich, they horribly abused their own people with low pay, dreadful working conditions, and cities deep in filth and hunger.

The British Empire was probably the worst for the sheer scale of it's murder and plunder - but all were pretty bad. And the U.S. not only exploited it's slaves, but also it's own people and it's immigrants. (Yes,  and Canada did too.)

We also kill the helpless. In fact, the killing of civilians, including children, is standard practice for the U.S., and has been since the WW2 bombing of Dresden.

(You know, those fine young heroes that Americans call splendid young patriots that everybody is so proud of - the ones who defend America against guatemalans and, and oh,  just everybody.)

Now - just to see if my computer is acting properly-----

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/sep/02/amazon-fires-brazil-rainforest-bolsonaro-destruction

Damn.! No! It's supposed to come in blue, and it's supposed, on hitting a key, for the whole story to appear.

Damn!

Sept. 3: Nuthin'

I am having computer problems. I shall attempt to clear them tomorrow (Friday.)

Tuesday, September 1, 2020

September 1: After today's horrible news, yesterday's bad news became cheerful.

It has been disappointing to see how little we are informed by any of our news media - and that includes the social media like this one - about the remarkable shift in world power that we are living through.

At the end of World War Two, the U.S. set out to rule the world. That was the real purpose of founding the  United Nations. Europe,  in particular, was to be united under American leadership. That was what the Korean War was all about. The bulk of the United Nations would join up behind the U.S. to establish a base in North Korea, and from that conquer China to make it an American colony.

But, amazingly, it didn't work. A China which was struggling to get out from a century and  half of western exploitation somehow defeated all those sophisticated Europeans and North Americans. Since then, China has made remarkable progress.

(Yes. I know China is doing some terrible things. It's also progressing at a pace unattached in the world.)

However, the U.S. continued it's determination to rule the world (for the benefit of American billionaires.) And it did so with the cooperation of Europe and Canada.

Thus Canada's servility in sending Canadians to die in wars for reasons of no meaning to Canada. Afghanistan springs to mind as an example. Canada has also helped out so American super-rich can plunder the middle east oil fields. And it helped the U.S. to destroy democracy in Haiti. Throughout Latin America, Canada is the U.S. buddy.

Now the U.S. is looking at a war of conquest in China - to which others will be invited. It is very likely to invite a Canada which will very likely salute and say ready, sir.

But the European powers have had enough of American demands and dreams of world conquest. In fact, they are now showing strong signs of improving trade and other relations with both China and Russia. (The only major nation which is holding back is Britain. But it's days of imperial glory are over.)

As a part of this process, Both China and Russia have been getting involved extending trade with the west and political presence with the west. China in particular, is looking forward to trade with Venezuela - and it would be most unwise for the U.S. to interfere.

In short, the U.S. intended to conquer the world after 1945. All these years later, it hasn't done so. All these years later, most Europeans have had enough. To add to that, any war using modern weapons like nuclear bombs, poison would destroy the planet. (To add to that, we are facing a  global crisis of climate change which we have so far refused to deal with though we have very little time - perhaps none.)

We aren't hearing or seeing much about this. And we have very little time. What get's in our way?

Primarily, it's the greed of our super rich. They have always been bad news for us. But they became far, far worse from the 1950s on as they conducted a campaign to plunder all nations including their own. That's why our super rich are still making profits even though economies are crashing. That's why around the world, even in rich North America, political parties like Canada's Liberals and Conservatives and like the American Republicans and Democrats are plundering their own people - a plundering that will make events like the tossing of families into the streets an every day event. (This is not unusual. We have been ruled by governments like this for thousands of years. Today, we call them capitalist - but this is a greed we have lived under since the earliest days, perhaps,of homo sapiens.

We are on the edge of disasters greater than this world has ever known. And we certainly aren't getting any help from our news media.

And where would Canada be after  all  this? Under the Conservatives it would be in the American pocket. Under the Liberals? Pretty much the same.

______________________________________________________________

I'll stop here because the news I read today - especially that in Information Clearing house - is as bad as I can handle. Indeed .yesterday's news was enough to keep me in a semi-concious state all that night. And, more than any other country, Canada may well suffer profoundly in what may happen as this develops. And as so many of our Liberals and Conservatives sell us out.
