April 28: Never underestimate the power of greed.

It was ever thirty years ago the I last visited China. It was then a land of old and battered housing. There was wide poverty. Today it is a land of super high rise buildings,, including magnificent high rise apartments. And these apartments are available for all those who need them - with or without rent. The roads now can match some of the best of roads all over the world.

The railway and subway systems can match and exceed the best in the world.

The same is true   for the education system all the way through universities.

Forget the images of the old China. This was a China  blundered and plundered  by the British for over 150 years, with additional threats by the U.S. for over a hundred years. This is also the China that is still suffering from old enemies, with the U.S. more prominent now in happily threatening to allow pieces of China to be kept by the leaders of the old plundering world (Taiwan is an example) that stole it as a haven for their plundering days.

I'm not exaggerating. China today is a highly succesrul nation. It's industrial advance has been stunning for thirty years and more. Living conditions can now be favourably compared with the western world. In many respects, they are better. Unlike the US, China  does not have millions of its poor wandering (and living in) the filth and savagery of the streets.

In industrial conditions and advancement, China is likely to pass the U.S. within 15 years.

All of this is something the western press would prefer not to think of.

And so it is that the U.S. is rushing to the support of a small minority of Chinese who want to break away from China. (Well, not Chinese actually. Originally they were from what is now Turkey.  And those who want to break away are a minority within a minority. - but the American press doesn't like to waste ink by telling the truth. Ditto for the private news media in Canada.)

This of course would lead to a war of the U.S. against China,  with Canada at the side of the U.S. (From the Boer War to World War Two Canada fought British wars. Since then, it fights only American ones. Of course. Canada is the U.S. puppet now, I'm so thrilled we can kill other people to please our American friends.

But why would the U.S. want to fight such a war in the first place?

It needs this war because China is crippling American business.  Since 1945 the U.S. has been the dominent force in world trade. But in recent years, China has been advancing so rapidly in it's industry and trade that American dominance in these will, very soon, be history. We have ten years, maybe a little more, to think about that.

Meanwhile, the U.S. will be launching the biggest war in history with a very heavy reliance on  nuclear weapons. And millions, even billions may die. Do your part.

Give our soldiers little Canadian flags to wave.

April 21 Don't believe all you see in the news.

While doing some research, I came across an organization which seems to be Canadian and American. It calls itself SumOfUs and it floats across our computers. Many of it's causes seem to be reasonable. But I was struck by it's bias on a lead issue.

It wanted you and me to send it money to attack China for mass killing of China's Uyughur tribes people. Oh, and that the American government is similarly threatening to attack China - for the same reason.

What's wrong with all that?

Well, for openers, the U.S. has been a world leader in mass murder for over 400 years. In fact, it's been very  busy as a mass murderer since 1949, killing millions, deliberately targeting children and babies for starvation, murdering and plundering all over Latin America and Africa----and let's remember that Canadian boot lickers sent police and troops to destroy and to murder democracy in Haiti. (a blessed gift to our good friends in the U.S. with a lobbering and drooling Canadian Legion wetting it's pants at the sigit..)

When the U.S. sent hired mercenaries to murder thousands of Roman Catholic missionaries, nuns and priests in Guatemala, not a whisper came  from SumOfUs. Both Canadian and American journalists were silent. In fact, this has never been made known. (one of the bodies was a Canadian. But, years after his murder, when his body was returned to New Brunswick, nobody - including the New Brunswick papers - said a word. (Nor did the Irvings say anything though he was buried where he grew up - in the home town of the Irvings.)

And where did SumofUs get it's information?

It all came from American news media. It had not a drop of any information from impartial news media. (Yes, it did quote the New York Times. But that is not, by any means, an impartial news medium.)

As nearly as I've been able to find, there has been some mistreatment of these people - but not nearly so much as this article claims. And there has also been a much greater spread of freedom for these people, an aspect SomeOfUs doesn't mention.

You want brutality, murder, torture? Don't waste your time on China. Take a look at U.S. armies all over the world.

So what's going on here?

There are people in the U.S. who want a war with China. The great sin of China is that the U.S. wants the good old days when westerners,  especially the British, murdered and plundered China on a grand scale.

Incidentally, China has led the world in decent housing. It's the best. (I remember well what it used to be like in the days I was working there.) But out news media don't like discussing that.

However, you want an evil comparison with Chinese living accomodation?

Try the U.S. Try the tens of millions of impoverished Americans who live in the filth of the streets. (But SomeOfUs won't ever raise that issue.)

Today, China is the second biggest world trader. And its economy is headed for world leadership  SumOfUs is acting to please a world of corruption and decay amd greed/

Check out the March 19 edition for the story of Global Climate change. Contrary to the opinions of Alberta's Conservatives, everything is fine. But in the real world, we are facing the worst heat wave ever in recorded history.

And, for Ontario Conservatives it could be very bad indeed under the leadership of a provincial premier who has been a walking and incompetent ass.

But not to worry. Ontario voters will still, probably, vote for him. Nor would it matter if Ontario voters switched to Liberals. They're all the same breed.

_______________________________________________________

While your at it, check out March 19 article on Rabble.ca. This one is something our government has not told us about. Ships of the Canadian navy are providing very provocative attacks on China's claims to its waters. And why are they doing this?

That's because kissing American asses is the major function for Canadian forces. This goes back to the days when dropped it's functions for the British, and switched over to the U.S. in Korea - a war that we had no stake in.

That's been the sort of thing that Canadians do now and that the Legion cheers for. We send Canadians to get killed to please Americans. That's what our flurry in Afghanistan was about. That's why we have troops in the middle east. That's why Canadians killed those Haitians who wanted democracy. But we were kissing the American ass - that's why we killed Haitians. The legion never talks about that. And most Canadian news media never even mention it.

________________________________________________________________

There's a fascinating story by   Gwynne Dyer in his March 29 column. (Just punch in Gwynne Dyer on your coputer) . I knew him long ago when the world and I were young. Dyer then was a regular on CBC, and I had the pleasure of listening to him while I waited for my time on air. He now works out of Britain - and he's one of the best in the business of world affairs.

And he gives an account of the giant conntainer ship Ever Given got stuck and blocked the Suez Canada with its cargo of more than 18,000 box cars on the deck. And that sentence is about as much as the  commercial press has told us. But there is more, much more, to the story than that.

For a start, this monster ship, like most ships of it's type, carries goods from the poorest countries in the world. Those goods, commonly cheap all over the world, are carried to the western world by ships like Ever Given. So why do we import relatively cheap household goods from poor countries?

That's because 1. we can hire desperately poor crews from those poor countries. and pay for them as crews who have to live on the ships when even in port - and live in the poverty that is all they have even known. And, 2. also because of those poor prices we can stock our stores with everything from  foods to lawnmowers to furniture to cars .......

(Meanwhile, of course, Americans and Canadians lose jobs. Another problem is that ships like Even Green use heavy bunker oil. And Ever Green, for example, produces as much pollution PER DAY as fifty million cars do..

Most of this won't be changed until  2030 - and probably not even then. The solution? Use the labour and money much closer to home. And produce the same furniture and lawn mowers and all the rest using western nations - especially the millions of Americans living on the streets.

But the bosses - like American, Canadians, Europeans - prefer to make extra profits with the present system.

Tne next one is a subject that I can't readily apply to the worst part of the crises we are facing.

Go to the site labelled April 21 with the title Earth Abuse and the next Pandemic. It's under the site CounterPunch,

We gave received terrible guidance from some of our political parties - namely Liberals, Conservatives, and in the U.S. - Democrats and Republicans. Of course, those parties are the servants of the billionaires who have no limit to their greed, and an no sense of the disasters were are creatng.

How to Understand the News.

Much  (most) of our news is based on lies. So, feeling miserable about the world in general, I thought I'd devote a blog to samples of people who lie about the news. Some of these are politicians,of course. Some are journalists for print, radio and TV.

We'll start with Canada's participation with the British in the Boer war in South Africa back about 1900.

The British easily outclassed the Boers. So why did the British  encourage Canada to send troops to South Africa? Until that time, Canada had not been expected to take part in British wars - and Britain certainly didn't need Canadian help in this one.

Ah, Britain didn't need Canada in the Boer War. But the British knew that World War One was coming in Europe. And Britain knew it was going to need all the help it could get. So it wanted to establish the principle that Britain's wars were Canada's wars.

So it was that 67,000 Canadian died in World War One. And this was a war that had no meaning for Canada.World War One was a European war designed on  all sides to create even more wealth for a rising class of wealthy individuals. And that meant it was not a war for Canadians at all.

You need more convincing?  Okay'

In the peace treaty of world war one, all the European powers pulled back. It was agreed that nobody should be punished for World War One. And all could return to developing their industries. But-----

....Britain and France didn't like that.  German was just too good a competitor for them. So the British and French changed the rules to impose severe restrictions on Germany, reducing it to a nation of poverty The result was savage for a population driven to extremes, and to the destruction of it's survival.

And this opened the way to a Hitler and to World War 2.

Yes, the greed of the British and French is what created the holocaust of Jews. In total the war killed at least 75 million people. And note that Britain and France did little to nothing to help those Jews who survived the war. Typically, those who tried to flee Europe could not begin to escape Europe until three years after the war. Then they were shipped off to bring their own hell down on the Palestinians.

Oh, yeah -- Rockefeller of Rockefeller Centre and of Standard Oil  in the U.S. He was a nazi lover, and admirer of Hitler, who supplied Germany with almost all it's oil right up to the end. Funny how no American leader noticed that. (Funny how no American, British, or Canadian warship ever noticed this  as the American oil tankers reached German ports.)

_________________________________________________________________

The war over, the world headed for a new one  in 1949. This was the Korean war in which the U.S. rounded up  all  the countries on it's side. They went to South Korea to defend it's 'democracy'.

In fact, there was no South Korean democracy. At the time, South Korea's government was a gang of thugs who had ruled South Korea for the benefit of the Japanese occupation in World War 2. And they still governed in the same  corrupt and savage way. But our news media never said that.

The reality of the Korean War was that it was in the Koreas as a base to attack China. And Canada took part in that corrupt venture.

At the time, the leader of the old China, Chiang Kai Shek, was ruling Taiwan (in China. The U.S. helped him to take over Taiwan - which it had no business to do. Taiwan was a part of China, and the U.S. had no right to give it away to Chiang. Among other things, tt's quite possible he was the most corrupt ruler in modern history.

Chiang had controlled the drug trade of China, and massively encouraged it for a population of more than two billion. And he was an American hero right to the end. But the Chinese had a more realistic idea of him.

He had recently been pretty well crushed by Chou en lai who, whatever his faults, was honest.

Chiang then settled in Taiwan  with his corrupt entourage. Taiwan, by the way, is a part of China. Chiang had  no write to take it in the first place. I wonder how President Biden would feel if China sent a fleet to take over Los Angeles.

Note - all the bad guys above are on our side.

Americans are obsessed with the idea they have the right and the ability to run the whole world. They really have no such right and no such ability. All over the world, wealthy Americans have decided they have the right to rule all of us. Accordingly, they have murdered and plundered millions of people all over the world - as in Latin Americ where even children are enlaved by American capitalists, and where millions live in poverty and misery. Millions more are under the American billionaire thumb as in the oil fields of the middle east.

Indeed, as American billionaires (and trillionaires) roll in money, the American people have become ever poorer so that now millions of them have to live on the streets. (And Canada has the copy cats (and the morals) of the American billionaires.)

Indeed, Canadian billionaires are the imitations of the American ones.

In fact, as soon as World War Two ended, Canadian billionaires abandoned Britain and to this day kiss only American asses. Think about it.  From 1900 to 1945 we fought only British wars.

Suddenly we fight only American wars. Thats why we sent Canadians to die in an American war in Afghanistan that had nothing to do with us. That's we sent, earlier, Canadians to die in an American war in Korea that had nothing to do with us. We now, on American orders, have troops near the Russian border at the wish of American politicians. Also, to be nice to Americans, we have troops helping them out in or near the middle east.

When I was a kid we waved union jacks and sang God save the King. Now Britain, so far as we are concerned, is ancient history. We have new masters. And we serve them. And many of us don't even realize that.

Think about it.  Our news media didn't pay much attention to it, but some twenty years ago, we fought a very unpleasant war for our American neighbours.

The war was in Haiti. Until some 20 years ago, Haiti was a poor country run by gangsters. Then, suddenly, it had a democratic, elected government.

The U.S. was not pleased. It ordered it's troops to bring back gangsters (since they, like the American land and mine owners had more in common with plundering than with serving the people.) So with the honest leaders murdered, the gangsters and the American - and Canadian - wealthy could go back to the good old days.

The U.S. then called on Canada to take over Haiti, to destroy any attempts to re-establish American plundering of Haiti.

You didn't read this in your local newspaper? Well, no.

So with the support of the Canadian Legion, Canadian police and military spent a year murdering people who wanted to live in a democracy. To this day, democracy in Haiti is thoroughly destroyed.

Does that make you proud to be a Canadian?

It's  notable that no Canadian news medium said much (mostly nothing) about all this.

Since 1945, the Canadian military has been the errand boy for American dirty work. Legionnaires are fond of saying our soldiers are fighting for their country.

Like hell they are. They're fighting to please American billionaires.

(This kind of thinking has sunk into some of our military historians,  too. At the time of the Canadians in Afghanistan, a group of Canadian military historians anounced to the press that the Canadians in Afghanistan were there to bring democracy. You don't bring democracy to people by killing them.)

Even by the standard of  that small group of military historians that was the purest of bullshit.

_________________________________________________________________

Now, the U.S. is preparing for a war with China. Why?

The excuse given is that China is being cruel to a small group of Chinese called Ughurs (that's one of many of the names of that group. We actually know very little about it.) But the U.S. says it's evil. And our news media pick up the cry. And Americans - and many Canadians pick up that cry.

I don't know much about the Ughurs. But I do know quite a bit about the U.S now and throughout its history.

And the U.S., going all the way back to George Washington and even more so today,  has been one of the most brutal and murderous nations in history. This is a country that slaughtered almost all of it's native peoples, including women and children. It has virtually enslaved the people, including the children, of Latin America. In the Middle East, it has helped the Saudis in starving the whole population to death, especially including children, of Yemen.

Well, in all of its wars since 1945, it has specialized in the killing of civilians, especially children. And now it pretends to be angry at China for killing people of a Chinese tribe?

The U.S. wants a war with China because Chinese trade around the world is threatening what has been a  dominance of U.S. trade. And American capitalists need to destroy the Chinese competition.

The U.S. will, I am sure, expect Canada to help out in the China war. And the Canadian Legion will bleat, as usual, that Canadian soldiers are defending Canada and supporting our American friends.

But China has a population of over two billion. That means a conventional war won't do the trick.   It will have to go nuclear - and that means that Russia, with it's huge nuclear arsenal, will have to join in.

Ever since 1949 we have been going into war after war.  And  today, as millions of Americans live in the streets and in dreadful poverty, U.S. spending is not going to them. Instead, it is being poured into the most expensive military system in the world, a military dedicated to plundering and murdering all over the world - with Canadian help.

This is really a process that has been going on for thousands of years as various ruling classes have used their power to force the general population to kill and plunder - and die - for the ruling class of the day. It was true of emperors and kings.

It's now true of those super-rich we call capitalists. (How many American and Canadian soldiers, sailors and fliers have been killed since 1949? How many billionaire capitalists have been killed?)

We are, I fear, only human. We have, for thousands of  years, abused our power to exploit and abuse other humans. So far as I know, no other animal behaves in that way. And unless we change that - very soon - the human species will be history.

We Have Very Little Time.

A story on what I am about to write on this site has appeared in two web sites - The Nation and Common Dreams. And if you're living in a hard time, this will explain why you are.

In The Nation.com, March 2,a very reliable source, how billionaires manage to hide trillions of dollars. thereby avoiding taxes. The U.S. is now the global centre for money hiding and  illicit wealth.

Common Dreams has a similar story with a bit more information. In recent years, for example, billionaires have taken some 50 trillion dollars from bottom workers in the U.S. If they had been honest, those worker's salaries would have been twice as high.

This is why millions of Americans have to live on the streets, perhaps in tents. And among those millions who live in filth and hunger are millions of American children who will never escape poverty and hunger and lack of education..

Does this happen in Canada, too? Well, Canadians have very few (if any) honest news media. You won't find the story here. But it  does happen in Canada. The super rich exist in most western countries. The Irvings of New Brunswick go further in poisoning the land and the forests of New Brunswick. And the Irvings are not people to tell the world who they are bleeding.

This theft and hunger and early death is nothing new in human history. This trashing, abusing,, killing, plundering is as old as humanity. Indeed, we humans are the only creatures who  believe in the cruel and savage trreatment we practice.

Among the horrors have been, for example, the emperors of Rome who murdered common people for entertainment. The kings and aristocracy of Europe were the same. At the height of British Empire Britain looted the world, It's common people lived in poverty and filth. Meanwhile, the kings and queens and aristocracy, lived in unimaginable wealth and pleasure.

Are the rich smarter? No. Only greedier and more destructive. That is what American trillionaires and billionaires - and many Canadian ones - are doing. That's why Latin America is such a horror, and why the U.S. is murdering millions all over the world - and seriously looking at nuclear war in China. (You think the American army could defeat China? Get real. This is the army that couldn't defeat a tiny corner of Afghanistan in 20 years.)

Oh,and be prepared for Canadians to be sent into that China war. And Trudeau will say yes  though all we know about a China war is very little. We are busy playing the old game of reading news about how the other side is evil. If we are so eager to challenge evil, shouldn't we be killing Americans who are the most evil and murderous people in today's world?

We probably have very little time to get this world under control, to destroy the evil of our billionaires and trillionaires.

And so far, we haven't moved an inch.

Is China killing a whole nation of people in its country? It's not likely. For a start large numbers of those people have been freed and accepted into Chinese society. But our news media aren't telling us about that.

But - oooh - the U.S. knows China is evil. If anybody knows about evil, it is the U.S. with it's brutal treatement of all of Latin America, with it's deliberate starvation to death of the people, especially children, of Yemen, with it's mass murder in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

Hey, Pierre Trudeau and the Canadian Legion, if you're going to send Canadian troops to kill Chinese for being murderous, wouldn't it make more sense to send troops to the most murderous nation of our time - the U.S.?

But don't expect your news media to get honest and tell the truth. The U.S. doesn't give a damn who China kills. The U.S. (and it's American and Canadian billionaires) want a war with China because  the Chinese economy is catching up to the American one.

And our  heros are going to be killing to make Canadian and American billionaires happy.

But don't tell the Canadian Legion. It has never stood in the way of Canadian and American billionaires in places like Latin America (where it supported the Canadian role in destroying democracy in Haiti and which has made a specialty of kissing the asses of the very greedy. And don't expect the Canadian and American news media to tell the truth. They have a long record of lying. ( Of course. Guess who owns most of them.)

For Christ's sake, Canada, wake up.

And if that doesn't wake you up, the people who have been stealing our incomes since 1950 or so are not the Chinese. They are the Irvings and the Bill Gates.

_________________________________________________________________

I have carelessly lost a story that I had found on the web. Russia actually has land  in what I had thought was the Canadian Arctic. Much of the Arctic is not Canadian or American. It's Russian, but Russia has never paid much attention to it because it was under tons of Arctic Ice.

But no more.

The ice has melted.  (You know, the change that the premier of Alberta says it's happning.)  And Russia is establishing a major base there with a capacity to fire nuclear missiles at Canada and the U.S.

Maybe it's time for all of us to grow up.

_________________________________________________________________

Damn! I have long been curious about why Canada sent troops  and Canadian police to Haiti from the late twentieth century. Today, I checked it out.

The official story as told by our Department of Defence and by most of the Canadian news media is that we were there to protect Haitian democracy.

And I discovered we were lied to by our Department of Defence and almost all of our news media. (As an aside, the Canadian Legion - which is supposed to look out for the interest of our military - instead played the liar game.)

The reality....?

Through most of Haiti's modern history has been one of government by thugs, murderers and liars. In the late 20th century, it managed to vote for an honest government led by Jean Bertrand Aristide. But that didn't last.

The Haitian army, always an  army of thugs, thieves and murderers, overthrew the the elected government and put it's thugs back in government. and the American government clapped hands. But it didn't want to be too obvious a player. So it called on Canada to send troops and police as 'peacekeepers'.

No problem. The prime minister of the time was the Conservative, Stephen Harper who, like most of Canada's Conservative prime ministers, was always eager to kiss American boots. So we sent troops and police to help the killers in the Haitian government. And the Canadian Legion wet it's pants to get on board.

So I checked Canada's privately owned newspapers. And they lied about how glorious all this was - even as Canadian soldiers and police helped the thugs who were the Haitian government. (Reading the papers, I got the impression our soldiers mostly kissed babies.)

The only news sources I could find that were honest were the sort that I use for my blog.

_________________________________________________________________

Something for a later day.............

We are living in the most dangerous period in history. We have a history of thousands of years of being abused, murdered, plundered. That's what all the empires I have ever heard of were about. Perhaps the most brutal was the British Empire that starved and killed over 400 million people. (The British Empire beat Hitler by a wide margin.)

They've all been the same - wars led by rulers of all sorts - kings, emperors, billionaires who abused the rest of us.

But the next one may well be the last one. The U.S. is determined to rule the world. I doubt very much that they can do it. But weaponry has chnged a lot.

A knight on horseback might kill a few dozen, I suppose. Pilots in bombers could obliterate of couple of billion.

 You don't care?

Well, Russia may well have the world's biggest nuclear stockpile. And now, due to global warming, it has a nuclear air base in  the Arctic just above Canada and the U.S.

And we now go to war to bring people democracy and freedom?

No, we don't. We never  have. The most brutal of militaries is the U.S. with virtually all of Latin America a slave colony. Ditto for much of East Africa.

And why is the U.S. considering a war wiith China? Is it because China is mistreating a small tribal group?

Grow up.

The U.S. wants a war with China because China is starting to beat the U.S. in world industrial markets. And American capitalists, (the same ones who have been robbing Americans blind for years, who now have the biggest profits in history, who are the ones who have put millions of Americans into homeless filth and poverty and hopelessness, have no hope of beating the Chinese market.

So we have to kill lots of Chinese. And the Canadian Legion will insist that we join the killing.

To meet this crisis, Canada (and the U.S.) have something like  the weakest political leaders in History - And that suggests Canada and the U.S. have a hopelessly ignorant population. (And that comes at a time when we have lying leadership in the Liberals, Conservatives, Republicans and Democrats - watch for at least one Democrat war.)

In Canada, I can cry when I see an incompetent ass like Bennett of Ontario. Quebec's only vision of the future is making sure everybody speaks excellent French. Oh, and Alberta has Kenney - in all the history of Canada probably the most ignorant ass of any provincial premier in Canadian history.

But the Canadian people are so badly informed that they go on voting for incompetent asses  like these. Similarly, the people of New Brunswick have voted for the unspeakably destructive and greedy Irvings. Their chemical spraying of poison gas and their destruction of the forest will soon bring it's own, fatal price.

Sorry for the tone of all this. Alas! I'm telling the truth.

Me

I was born into a Montreal at the depth of the terrible 1930s when most people were very poor. As my parents felt the time coming of my birth,, they knew they had to walk from the north end  - and really the end of the city - and walk two hours and more to the downtown end where the hospital was. Even a five cent ticket on the tramcar was out of the question.

As well, there were almost no cars in my part of the city. Even a single car parked on the street I lived on was unusual.  Our bread and milk were delivered every morning  in horse-drawn wagons. And in winter we would play hockey on the street with the horse droppings as pucks.

Garbage? It was picked up by two-wheeled, horse-drawn wagons.

On Saturdays, us kids could make some easy money, taking our wheelbarrows to the supermarket to earn as much as 10 cents - hauling people's goceries home for them.

Oh, I had an aunt and uncle who were rich and who had a car. But they wouldn't get out of it. They would park at the curb, honk the horn, and we had to walk down to  the street to talk to them.

The one touch of glory in our district was in the name of the local English school and the English church. They were both called Crystal Springs. Alas! Those springs had vanished before I was born.

Our local school ended at grade four. From five on we had to walk to a distant school until grade 8. And that was dangerous because almost all the people in my part of the city were French. From grades one to four if we were kept in after school, French gangs were waiting to beat us up. From grades 5 to twelve, it  was worse as that school was bigger, and packed with bullies, many of whom became criminals later. And some of the girls were even worse.

We may be facing that again.

For some years now, in the U.S. and Canada and some other western countries, the super rich have been piling up money at the expense of everybody else. While the rest of us have been coping with weakening incomes, the super rich have been piling up trillions by hiding money in secret accounts overseas in addition to paying off governments to reduce all taxes on them. And, of course, by paying government to give them lush contracts.

The U.S. goes a step further by making hospital access impossible for over half of Americans. That's why millions of Americans are now living on the streets.

Meanwhile, the super rich are packing away the biggest profits in history. The American super rich are proud of it. The Canadian ones are at least more discreet. Well, and because Canadians are wimpier.

.__________________________________________________________________

Check out a site with two stories about the U.S. that won't make your local news media. One is how criminal gangs roam the streets of Haiti, murdering and plundering as they go. The other is that America's longest war (Afghanistan) is winding down in defeat for the U.S.

You can find both in the March 30 edition of The Nation web site.

Why should Canadians care about Haiti?

They should care because it was Canadian police and soldiers who were sent to destroy a Haiti that was a democracy. To please the U.S., Canada sent them to kill any Haitian who favoured democracy. As a result, Haiti now  has a government that happily impoverishes and loots the Haitian people - and allows the criminals to run wild.

And the Canadian  Legion said clap, clap, clap.,,,

And the Afghanistan War, the longest war in American history is winding down as a defeat for the wealthiest and best armed military in the world. (And the U.S., incidentally, has been fighting only a small number of the people of Afghanistan.)

This could well be the beginning of the end of the American empire.

Canadians, for no clear reason, fought and died in that Afghanistan war to please the U.S. - and the Canadiann Legion said clap, clap, clap....

Alas! It may be much worse.

The U.S. military leadership is already demanding a war on China. China is no angel,  but it is nowhere close to being the killer and plunderer that the U.S. is. And an American war on China could create the kind of world that none of us want to see.

Imperial armies - like those of the old, British empire and like today's American empire always believe that they are doing God's will - which is a pretty preverse reading of The Bible. As I write that  I recall attending a concert in England where performers sang "Rule Britannia, Britania rules the waves. For Britons never, never never shall be slaves."

Well, I thought, the reality is that the Britain of the Empire days was never threatened with slavery in the first place. No. But it inflicted slavery on China and India and others, murdering some 400 million people in the process.

And, actually, Britons were slaves to their aristocracy who sent the common people out to kill the 400 million people and to enslave the survivors. The soldiers and sailors who did the killing got pennies a day. And at the end of their usefulness, they were simply dumped on the streets.

And now we are told that God wants us to kill people of the middle east, of Latin America, and of China?

In World War 2, it seems, God was on the side of the British Empire, the U.S.,...and Germany and Italy. But I've never known a church service to mention that.

Apparently, God now wants us to kill many millions of Chinese. God's will be done.

Ever notice that in every war we have fought, God has been our cheerleader?

Yes. God told. George Washington to carry out a holocaust on native peoples in the U.S. God told Canada to kill Dutch settlers in South Africa (Boer War.) The U.S. is now doing God's work, starving chldren to death in Yemen, and plundering Latin America (with Canadian help.). Oh, and God is tossing millions of American children onto the streets  while giving the super wealthy trillions of dollars. Indeed, those trillions could have been used to create decent living conditions. But the U.S. (and Canada) prefer to let the super wealthy hide what should be their tax money.

At least, that's roughly what we read in most of our commercial news media. And that's the world we have allowed the super-wealthy to create.

What's the biggest killer of people on this planet? No. It's not covid. The biggest killers are air pollution (many times worse than covid), forced starvation as in the middle east and Latin America, and our passion for wars.

Check out the story on the April 2 issue of The Manchester Guardian.

Who are the biggest killers? We are.

And, oh, the oil industry is a huge killer.

Also in the April two issue of The Guardian, the "America's section, is a lead story that Canada is  the "running dog" of the U.S.

Well, yes, that has been true ever since the demise of the British Empire. Every war we have taken part in has been at the pleasure of the U.S. Thus Canada's dead in Korea, it's killing and its dead in  Afghanistan, it's destruction of democracy in Haiti...

In China, the current thrill is following the American lead in attacking Chinese treatment of the Chuighurs of China. Trudeau is very big on this - as are our commercial news media.

Just a few little points are being ignored.

1. The U.S. has been slaughtering innocent people since 1949 - often with Canadian help.

2. The Uighurs were a people attached to Chiang Kai Schek, severe enemies  of China. Today, not all of them are under attack, just the ones who cling to the old hatreds. The U.S. kills more people than that in any day - in the middlle east, in Latin America.

Don't expect to see any honest reporting of this in our commercial news media.

Oh, why is the U.S. so  hostile to China? Well, China has faults, certainly. We've seen that in Hong Kong. But the U.S.is more vicious in, say Latin America, than the U.S. is in China. A leader like Bolsonaro in Latin America is probably worse than any Chinese leader - and the U.S. loves Bolsonaro.

No, what the U.S. objects to is the rise of China as a highly competitive economy that very much annoys American capitalists. It's very close to being the super power that the U.S. saw itself as - the world leader that was the successor to the super power that Britain had been in it's many years as murderers and plunderers of the world.

And our Canadian news media never criticized the murderous British Empire, either.
