August 29: Bad, bad news.

Sorry to be almost a day late with this. It was my birthday, and my children held a birthday party for me and gave me gifts and lavish meals. Did you do that? No! So I delayed he blog.

 https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/trump-biden-marxist-1.5703264

I doubt whether Biden or Trump has any idea of what a Marxist is. And even all American voters have no idea. But they will passionately  vote against any politician  who anybody says he is a Marxist. (Heck, even Russia was never Marxist. For that matter,  I have to admit that I don't have much understanding of it. )

No matter. We have been told for over a hundred years it is evil. And there are those, especially Americans, who regard Canada's medicare as Marxist.

Americans toss out the poor to live and die on the streets. But that is virtuous. For the last 70 years, the U.S. has been carrying out wars all over the world - good old-fashioned wars of murder and plunder. But, hey, that's what makes America great.

In short, Americans - and many Canadians - have no idea what democracy is (or, far that matter, what Christianity is.)

What they have is simply a bundle of slogans, prejudices, and propaganda. That's why they're proud of an army that murders civilians and has come to specialize in the mass murder of childern and even babies.

God bless America - just like He used to bless the British Empire.

We see ourselves, homo sapiens, as the most moral of all animal species. In fact, we are the most evil creatures on this planet. With only a few lapses, other animals kill only to eat. (So, for that matter, do we). But we also kill for pure greed, for control over ourselves and all other creatures. Every war we have ever fought has been fought for greed on at least one side.

Or do you think that the U.S. has been killing in Afghanistan and the rest of the middle east out of Christian love?

Meanwhile, the U.S. is going through an election in which both parties (as in almost all U.S. elections) are pretty much the same.

Why is Canada getting tough with Venezuela? Well, it's so that American (and Canadian) billionaires can steal control of Venezuela's oil fields. In particular, Canada is playing bumboy for American capitalists - a role Canada plays all over Latin America.

Let's wake up, shall we? The reason Assange has been a prisoner for many years and has suffered torture is because he's a journalist who told the truth. And most of our newspapers don't report on this is because most of our newspapers are staffed by liars.

I have mixed feelings about this. It seems to suggest there once was a time in the U.S. and Canada when the  super rich were inactive. But that part of it isn't true.

Indeed, the super rich in most of the world have been a major force going back for many thousands of years. However, there's reason to believe they're getting worse.

_________________________________________________________________

The excessive language of this next item weakens it. But it's true enough - and this may very well apply to Canada as well. What it describes is the American empire which is the victim of it's own capitalism. But the British Empire up to capitalism was very similar. It wasn't capitalist - but it was much the same. And you get those similarities in every empire I have ever heard of.

August 27---And my birthday. But that is the only good news.

__________________________________________________________________

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/hillier-navarro-canada-afghanistan-idiot-1.5701264

The reality is that neither Canada nor the U.S. should have been in Afghanistan in the first place.Despite American propaganda, there was no connection between Afghanistan and the 9/11 attacks. The 'terrorists" were people who had fought off the attacks of Russia on their country. The U.S. saw this as a chance to move in and steal natural resources (which is what Russia had been trying to do in Afghanistan.)

Canada's role was despicable. We sent troops to fight and die in a war that had nothing to do with Canada. It was Canada's role there to kiss the asses of American billionaires. It is desgraceful that Canadian news media never reported what that war was really about, and never reported on the Canadian role. And it was disgraceful that the Canadian government offered up our military for such a purpose.

What next?

Don't rule out the strong possibility of an American attack on Canada, especially  to take advantage of the separatist movements in Quebec and Alberta - and to get American territory up into Canada's farthest north which has become attractive because of climate change and because of it's potential resources.

Since 1945, Canada has become an obedient puppet to the U.S. But there is no obedience that is enough to satisfy the greed of American capitalists.

You think the U.S. would never do such a thing to it's neighbour? Take a look at what it's been doing to it's Latin American neighbours for the last 120 wears.

Afghanistan, the war that we Canadians sent Canadians to die in. They died (and killed) to enrich American capitalists. Canadians should be deeply ashamed about this. Canadians should also tell Americans to fight their own wars. (And politicians should be ashamed of their role.)

But no. And the Canadian commercial news media have never even whimpered about this. And the response of Canada's leading war historian? As usual, he has said nothing but servile praise of our masters.

Again, there is not much news that is both useful and available -and this as a whole world is collapsing. The U.S. is fading fast as a world power and even as a nation. But the fading U.S., even if it can't win wars, still has  stockpile,  including nuclear weapons, to kill in millions and perhaps billions. And the greed of it's super-rich could be horribly destructive even as their power fades.

Meanwhile, in the 'quiet wars', milliions are dying in Africa and Latin America, dying from hunger, disease, imposed hopelesness

And climate change?  It's happening. It's real. And the super-rich refuse to even think of dealing with it. We have very little time, so little it may already be too late.

I learned a good deal about this from experience. Never impressed by universities as teaching institutions, this was enforced when I was offered the presidency of my university. The offer came from the Board of Governors. And what qualifications did they have to make such an offer?

None.

The Board of Governors, as is common in universities, was dominated by business - big business. So it's qualifications to choose a leader for an educational institution was close to zero. That was clear to me in my interviews. (For that matter, the professors had very little understanding of education.)

Their offer to me was ceratinly a good one. But I realized what puppets university presidents are. So I turned it down.

All armies are pretty much the same. And just about all news media are the same in covering up for the armies - unless their evil is on the other side.

_________________________________________________________________

Again, I'm disappointed by the recent lack of news from all media - both the ones I like and the ones I dislike.

We need to learn that much of the evil in this world comes from us. We need to know how much of that evil is created and accepted by us. We need to understand that the U.S. and it's hangers-on like Canada and Britain have a dismal record over the last centuries. Is China evil? Yes. and we created that. The British murdered, plundered and horribly abused China for over a century and a half. That abuse has continued after 1945. Indeed, just about every war for thousands of years has been caused by the greed and abuse of the kings, emperors, dictators, and capitalists - all those people who are heroes of our history books - and their servants like Christopher Columbus. Admiral Lord Nelson, George Washington....

We're now ruled, in reality,by a class of the super rich, (we call them capitalists), who have been the real powers on this earth for some 200 years. For the greater part of those years they have held the rest of us in deep poverty. (Remember the case of the Ontario teen ager who lost an arm in a factory accident, and who was fired on the spot, and sent home with no help, no medical care....)

Throughout human history, we have governed only to meet the greed of the  wealthy. And that greed is the reality we live in today. But this time it's on a more vast scale than at any time in history. And this time it has the potential for the greatest ever devastation all over the world.

And for Americans? It couldn't matter less who wins the election. Even now the damage is well under way.

A trillion dollars- even as millions have been dropping from poverty to abandonment in the streets. It's only slightly better in Canada - though that's just because of our smaller population. In tax evasion alone, a small number of Canadians have over 300 billion tucked away. And, like the richest Americans, the richest Canadians have actually become richer even as the economies crash.

Will the super rich spend that money on helping the rest? No. They aren't in the business of helping anybody but themselves. No. They'll spend their extra money exploiting the even deeper poverty of nations as in Latin America and the middle east - the nations they have driven into poverty in the first place.

Do Canadian Jews support Israel? At the beginning, they did. But my impression, after giving hundreds of talks to Jewish groups in Montreal, is that support for Israel has been in decline for many years. However, the "Israeli lobby" is well financed and very active in Montreal. (I know that because it was effective in attacking me, and in getting me fired from a radio spot I had occupied for over 20 years - even though I had never attacked Israel. But it wanted that spot for a very extreme supporter of Israel.)

_________________________________________________________________

Recently, I've been getting the impression that even the best news media are not getting to  the fundamentals of what is happening to us. Bear  with me. I'm going to try to make sense out of all this Let's go back to a point I tried to make a few times in recent blogs. Let's go back to the time when homo sapiens did not yet exist.

The closest ancestors to us that then existed were some species of gorillas.

Gorillas today and then did not form gangs to kill other gorilla gangs. In fact, they were in time of danger more likely to climb a tree until the danger went away. Nor  was that a quality just of our (relatively) close ancestors.

Lions would kill for food (as we do to this day) But they did not form lion gangs to kill other lion gangs. They might have an occasional squabble with another animal. But it was never frequent or highly organized as our wars are.

There's no doubt about it. The creators of organized war were -- and are --us.

Our behaviour was caused by something no other animal had - a large brain. That brain is what encouraged some of us (not all) to see the possibility of organizing other homo sapiens to submit to command, organization, and leadership. They were the ones who could organize the rest to kill for them.

The number of such leaders was probably always small. Nor is it likely they were intelligent in any other sense. But these were the leaders of the first armies, the ones who aquired the titles king, emperor, lord. And all of them throughout history,  despite acquiring wealth and power, failed - the emperors of Rome are prime examples of this failure. But there have long been successors to them.

The misnamed democracies produced political leaders who did what the kings and emperors had done. The U.S. is an example of that - where presidents going back to George Washington have used their power for constant war and plundering.

The latest wave is made up of what we call capitalists. Really a product of the early days of the industrial revolution, they exerted mastery over all with their wealth. In short, they buy political leaders - and enslave the rest of us. And they use the rest of it to fight their wars by linking those wars with "serving the queen", "serving the nation" or some other mindless babble.

Just about every war in history has been  fought to enrich kings, emperors, Lords, the upper class of so-called democracies. In every case, we have been told these wars were in defence of 'values'.  And so it is we praise our military for fighting Hitler, nicely ignoring the fact that Germans fought under Hitler under exactly the same beliefs. And Japanese were told they were fighting for the emperor. In fact, in all of those wars, all sides were fighting to enrich capitalists.

We humans are prone to evil, the evil that began with our earliest humans.  And that evil is now so powerful it is close to destroying the whole planet.

But you won't find that in our commercial news media.

Nor will you find it in our Christian churches. They fully share in their worship of capitalists as they once shared in worship of emperors and kings and lords. Our human history has always been like that. The U.S. is the world's most recent mass murderer. Heard anything about that in church? The British Empire murdered over 400,000,000 people.Did we see any Anglican bishops marching in the streets to oppose this?

We follow some of the most evil and murderous people in history in the form of capitalists today and as it was to the form of kings and emperors.

We had the chance in 1945 of a world oriented to peace. In China, we could have supported the revolutionaries who wanted to make China a better place to live. Instead, we threw our ourselves at the service of a Chiang Kai-Shek who plundered China just as the British had. Of course China hates and distrusts us.

The parade of killers is what this blog is about. The evil is about the leaders of the most vicious creatures this world has ever known - us.

Now, with our large, earthly population and our worship of the most vicious elements of our society, we are very close to the end.

As pogo said, we have found the enemy - and he is us.

Of course Trudeau has accepted money from the super-rich. That's been true of every prime minister of  Canada, Liberal or Conservative, from the start. That's why the NDP and the CCF before it had a hard time at elections. The Liberals and Conservatives had piles of money from the super rich at election time. The CCF and NDP never had the heaps of election money or the personal gifts the Liberals and Conservatives have always had.

People commonly think of history as being the truth. Very often, it is not the truth at all. As public school child, I was taught about the glories of the British Empire. Only later, as I studied history to become an historian, did I learn that most of what I had been taught was a lie. There was nothing glorious about the British Empire. Indeed, it very closely resembled the 'glory' of Hitler's Germany.

I also came to realize that versions of history taught by professors were very much influenced by the political views, whether capitalist, socialist, communist - or whatever - of the professor. Canada's best known military historian, for example, is a fountain of praise for Canada's military. That makes it a big hit with the Canadian Legion. But it ignores some incidents in our military history - such as the Boer War, the Korean war, and Afghanistan. It's also light on how Canadian capitalists  have used our military for their own advantage, and how we have a long history of fighting wars for other countries - as in Afghanistan and as in our servility to American billionaire interests in Latin America and the Middle East.

(None of what I wrote above has anything to do with criticism of those who served. It is about how we abused those who served. History should not be about "facts" - though that is what we have made it from grade one to PhD. I still remember vividly a professor from my grad school days who was attached to Britain in almost a religious sense and who went into ecstasies about it.)

History should be about learning how to make judgements of what we are told and what we read. Alas! Much of what we get is propaganda - and that goes all the way from grade 1 to Ph.D.

The premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, loves to create an impression that he is working hard on the covid crisis - and he does that with frequent, formal and long TV appearances in which he seems very concerned. Indeed, that TV bit is so frequent and so long I don't see how he could possibly be dealing with the province's crisis at all.

As well, he has a long record of environmental destruction for the sake of the capitalists who own him. Thus his support for a plan to destroy a huge area of protected land.

Of course. In the 'democratic' U.S. both parties are owned by the super wealthy. So there is no possibility of the American public getting any help from their government no matter who wins the election.

__________________________________________________________

Those of us who are old enough to remember the Pogo comic strip will remember Pogo's cry - "We have met the enemy. And he is us."

Gorillas might get angry sometimes. But they don't band together to kill other gorillas. Lions kill -to eat. (For that matter, we kill animals to eat.) But Lions kill only to eat. We kill for the fun of it as in hunting. I don't know of any other creature that does that. And we kill other humans in the millions, certainly not out of hunger but out of a desire for control.

I don't know of any other creature that does that. The desire to conquer and kill is the unique quality brought to us by the earliest humans. We are, by any definition I can think of, evil and destructive. And, to the best of my knowledge, no religion has ever made a dent in that. Christianity was an attempt,at the beginning, to change that. But in 2,000 years we are simply more destructive. Christians have not only continued to murder and plunder, but they have almost always done so with the blessings of their churches. So it was  in World War Two that Christians who were British, American, French, Canadians, Germans, Italians happily tortured and murdered each other.

Most people, I think, who engage in such murder are not really killers, but are drawn to killing by appeals from the lustiest of killers - the very, very rich. These appear to be inheritors of a powerful impulse to kill for their own profit. Thus over the years we have had the tribal chiefs, the kings, the emperors, the aristocracies and, most recently the super rich. These have not been our intelligent people. They simply have a lust for killing and control.

So it is that we are now very close to the final war, the one that nobody can win. So it is that were are crammed in, sharing space with the most destructive weapons this world has ever seen. There is, almost certainly, no possibility of any civilization surviving the next world war.

But just about every nation is preparing for it instead of dealing with the threat.

To add to that, we are destroying our own planet with climate change, drastic exposure to heat, fire, storms.....  We've known this for over thirty years. And we haven't lifted a finger. We haven't lifted it because we obey the super rich who rule based on greed with no thought for consequences.

Our planet is on the edge of destruction. The super rich are too greedy to understand that. Even now, as our planet home turns into a huge graveyard, these people who control most of our societies can understand nothing but their own greed. Take a serious look at them. These, almost all males, have actually been profiting in the disaster of hunger, homelessness and fear that hundreds of millions are living in with no hope. No, not hundreds of millions - probably billions. For the super rich, we have suffered almost endless war, endless starvation, endless fear since 1945.

Let's get real. This is not the world that millions fought for. And, more important, this is not a world that can survive what we have allowed to happen. (I long for the Canadian Legion to wake up to that. Canadians of World War 2 surely did not suffer and die for a world ravaged by the super rich. And why the hell were Canadians sent to die in Afghanistan? And why did Canadians help the U.S. to destroy democracy in Haiti? Why do they now help American and Canadian super rich as they run wild over Latin America?)

Those who fought in our wars surely did not do so for the world that our super-rich have created. The Canadian Legion should not be a cheerleader for war. But that's all it has ever been.

We are living in the greatest danger this world has ever known. We are not going to deal with it by voting for that moral trash we call Conservatives, Liberals, Democrats and Republicans.

And we have little, very very little time to act.

This one came to me as a great disappointment.  Much as I liked Hong Kong, I was astonished by it's lack of social services, of meeting the needs of a very large part of the population of Hong Kong. Alas! I also saw that the leadership of Hong Kong was viciously self-serving. I don't see Hong Kong getting the changes it needs from either Hong Kong or China.

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/55471.htm

While I was there, in the days of British rule, I was struck by the arrogance and the indifference to human needs of the British rulers. A key figure in this was the chief advisor to the British governor, a stunningly arrogant type that only the British empire could produce, a man with nothing but contempt for the people of Hong Kong.

Alas! A year later I learned we were related. He was married to my American cousin.

This will be very true in the U.S. - and in Canada. Education is a process that requires a sense of place, a sense of relationship with teachers and other children. But none of that is going to work with periods of separation, of moves, of learning from computers.

It won't be such a problem for universities, but only because professors commonly have no training in education and no understanding even of the concept  and, therefore, will make only  their usual mess of it.

________________________________________________________

Again, I've been finding that our news media, including the few that are pretty good, are not getting to the heart of our crisis. Voting Republican,Democrat, Liberal, or Conservative will change nothing. The problem is one that began many, many thousands of years ago with the emergence of humans. Unlike most animals, we consistently gave rise to greed, the greed that knows no bounds.

Such people became leaders of tribes, then of nations with titles of Kings, Emperors, Lords.... From the start, they thought only of themselves as they crushed other humans into poverty. So it was that a very tiny number of people could conquer and plunder most of the world - as the British Empire did.

The vast majority of the British remained in poverty so deep, that they only in the last century or so could even hope for basic necessities. This, not suprisingly, was adopted by American leaders who murdered and plundered from the earliest days of European settlement in North America.

For the last century and a half, we have called this capitalism. But it's really the same old greed and bullying. And so today, as millions of Americans are turned into the streets to starve and die. Today, 3 Americans, just three, have a combined wealth of at least a TRILLION dollars. But the American people see nothing of that just as millions of British never saw the luxury and privilege that  their Kings, Queens and Lords lived in.

The only role most of us are permitted to have is to kill and plunder North Koreans, people of Afghanistan, Latins who get uppity, the people once known as French Indo-China (Vietnam), our own native peoples, middle east... We kill on the command of our super - rich. And the major western countries have been at war constantly since 1914. And all those wars are really the same war, the great war to smother the super-rich in even greater wealth.

Yes. We have such people in Canada, too. Not the richest perhaps, but right up there with the super greedy, is the Irving family of New Brunswick, a family that pays virtually no taxes, that owns all the newspapers in province, that has owned every government there for almost  a century, and demands and gets many millions of dollars of tax-payers money.

Our North American greedy might be coming to the end of their rope. It is quite possible the US itself is crashing, and will cease to be a nation. But it's also possible the American super-rich - with the help of Canadian super-rich - will annex Canada for a final fling. (Even as it is, prime minister Trudeau is simply an American puppet.)

Capitalism? Forget it. Capitalism has nothing to do with this. It is simply the very old, very human trait of super greed. The difference is that what we call capitalism has also led to the massive destruction of our environment.

And that will take us to the final act.

There is money out there, lots of it. But we just sit here twiddling our thumbs. This is not just a question of pushing a few political buttons. It's about our quivering, cowering response to the massive threat that for thousands of years has been the great threat to all humanity. It the capacity of the human family for greed.

Contrary to common beliefs, Canada has a long and brutal history of racism - against Blacks, native peoples, Jews, Japanese, Chinese  and anyone who's "different".  I've seen it all my life in most provinces. I lived it as an English-speaking person in Quebec. I saw it as a 12 year old in a boy scout camp where the boys of a Chinese troop were constantly humiliated and attacked  by the other boys, and where the Jewish troop at meal time when all the troops gave their camp yell. One by one the troops ended their yell with their troop name and a 'rah, rah, rah'.

When the Jewish troop ended their yell with "YMHA, rah, rah, rah',  the whole Christian mess hall would answer - Ha, Ha, Ha.

And never once did I hear the Christian camp staff reply to that.

...and a voice of sanity.

https://www.counterpunch.org/2020/08/14/lights-camera-kill-hollywood-the-pentagon-and-imperial-ambitions/

Quite so. World Wars One and Two were really both the same war. Both were the war of capitalists against capitalists. In world war 1, the European powers on both sides were fighting to defend their capitalists against competition from capitalists on the other side. When it ended, British and French capitalists imposed terms on the German capitalists that destroyed them.

So it was that a humiliated and suffering Germany gave rise to a Hitler and to a World War Two that was really just an extension of World War One.

And why was the U.S. so slow to enter World War Two? Well, for a start, many American capitalists admired Hitler because he would put a stop to the spread of communism. Thus Henry Ford's admiration of Hitler. Thus the willingness of the American Rockefellers to supply Germany with oil for it's army, navy and airforce for the whole war up to 1945.

Generally, though, American capitalists decided to enter the war because in doing so they could take over domination of the European empires, notably Britain. That worked out for African oil sources but, to the fury of American capitalists, was blocked by the Chinese revolution. And that is what caused the American invasion of Korea, (with God's help and the assistance of countries like Canada) to make the whole world the American empire.

And that is why the west has had a series of wars for the last 150 years or so. That is why the U.S. sponsored an invasion of Canada by it's civil war veterans. That is why Britain demanded Canada sent troops for the Boer War. (It was to set up Canada for taking part in WW1.) That is why, since 1945, the U.S. has called on Canada to take part in American wars of capitalist conquest as in Afghanistan, Haiti, Congo, Korea, Syria.... - just as Canada used to fight capitalist wars for Britain.

Who knows? We might soon be saluting the American flag in our schools. And it might be soon - very soon.....for God and capitalism.

As I noted in my last post, the world news, both commercial and social, seems to be slowing considerably. Neither of them is saying as much as needs to be said about the role of capitalism in this terrible decay of societies and nations. Neither of them has said much about where this is leading us with a U.S. and a Canada quite likely to fall into a permanent chaos as they fail to deal not only with a capitalism running wild but with  massive inaction on the huge challenges of earthly change. Yes. It's real. Yes. It destroys. Yes, we have very little time. No. Capitalism will not do anything about it. It has done nothing about it for 30 years.

We have spent (wasted) all the years since 1945 on wars, almost all of them to satisfy the greed of capitalism. We fought a war (supposedly) against German racism of this world - and ever soon that war have justified our wars by our racist propaganda. Yes. All our routine wars since 1945 have been justified by charges of racism - Chinese are racists, Muslims are racist, Guatemalans are racist... but we are good.

We have very little time. And we're wasting it.

Biden's choice for VP is a long way from being a fresh breeze in American politics. Indeed, she is not all that far from being a  (male) Trump Republican. The article says she attended Montreal's Westmount High. I know that school well. It was, like the suburb of Westmount,  the home of the snootiest of Montreal. And that's not just the reaction of a working class boy. I've known many of them, and it's a reality. Like almost every American politician going back to George Washington she is the obedient servant of the rich, the person with nothing but contempt for us ordinary people.

So it's quite true. She will be the equivalent of a Canadian Conservative.  Expect nothing from her - or from Biden.

For over two hundred years western capitalists have abused, murdered, plundered China. When China tried to throw them off with Mao's communist revolution, the western powers threw all their weight behind the murderous and stunningly corrupt Chian Kai-Sheck.

Somehow, those 'evil' communists rebuilt a shattered China. So the West invaded Korea as a base for the invasion of China.

(Yes. I know communism is evil. And what the hell do you think western capitalism has been with its murder and plunder all over the world. British, French, Dutch, American empires, and with their impoverishment of most of their own citizens, who struggled in hopeless poverty and early death. Today. we have millions on our streets, living in filth, hunger and hopelessness while the super-rich wallow in trillions of hidden dollars. God bless capitalism.)

Meanwhile, communist China has raised it's billions out of the  poverty we inflicted on it. And it has even become a major world power. - How evil of it!

Yes, China's treatment of Hong Kong is dreadful. (It's so evil it even reminds me of the horrors of British domination.) But we are the ones who have created this evil part of modern China.

(Forgive me for straying from the usual format of citing examples largely from social news media. But I'm finding that to be seemingly weakening as news.)

I found today's news from both social and conventional commercial news to have lost much of their sense of direction. The social news sources seem to be getting lost in all the confusion and decay, while most of the commercial ones continue their role of giving us lies and trivia.

We may be approaching a change that has been working it's way in on us for many thousands of years.

Early homo sapiens were by far more violent, murderous, and certainly more attuned to manipulation of their own kind than any other animals. Thus our long history of wars, of manipulating kings who organized their own immediate followers as mass murderers. We are and almost always have been manipulated, abused, murdered by leaderships that, with their followers, have used and horribly misused the rest of us.

For an example of this take a look at the reality of American history, most of which is a hypnotic delusion about what America is and always has been. This also applies to Britain, France (even Canada) and many other countries who train us to see courage and glory where there really is nothing but horrible abuse.

And now these same leaders are prepared to lead us  into the final destruction.

Funny how our local news media haven't mention this.

_____________________________________________________________

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/aug/11/the-pandemic-is-helping-the-rich-get-even-richer-its-time-to-tax-their-obscene-wealth

As families around the world fall into deep poverty - homeless, without food, without hope, and facing horrible deaths by war - the super rich go on with hugely expensive mansions, and now with billion dollar resorts on tropical islands where magnificent homes are built far below the surface for protection against nuclear attack.

While children and adults live in the filth and hunger of the streets, the super rich are actually making more money than ever. And much of that money comes from the suffering of the growing numbers of the poor.

The U.S. has the biggest war budget in the world. Guess why. For defence? Get real. It's a 'defence' budget that provides super contracts for the super rich. And where does the money for this come from? It comes from what could be  a budget to feed the hungry and house the homeless. And so to enrich the super rich. The super rich are getting richer - much richer - on the suffering of millions. And the super rich have nothing but contempt for the rest of us.

And the blame for that in Canada and the U.S. lies on the major political parties  - Democrats, Republicans, Liberals and Conservatives. All four of those parties have been the errand boys of the super rich going all the way back to their founding. And they (with, alas, our help) are destroying us.

The Irving family of New Brunswick, for example, gets lush government contracts with having to compete for them. They pay no income taxes - and few taxes of any sort. They also get lush grants from our taxes - and for reasons that are never mentioned to us peasants.

The character of these people, like the characters of the kings and emperors and aristocrats who preceded them, is contempt for all of us. And that's why we are now facing the biggest economic and social crash we have ever seen.

The super rich are vicious, murderous, arrogant and vile. And we have encouraged that for thousands of years by obeying them, and now by voting for them their flunkee  politicians.

Now, we are close, very close, to the final disaster.

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2020/08/11/real-people-are-paying-ultimate-price-trumps-monstrous-failures

Well - it's not just Trump. It's the whole social world of Trump, a world in which even he is a relatively small player. And it's also the whole, servile role of American political parties.

Part of the reason for this is a school system that teaches a bullshit history of America. (History in Canadian schools is similar.) George Washington was not a great lover of democracy. The North did not fight the civil war to free the slaves. And to suggest that the U.S. spread democracy is absurd. In fact, it destroyed any democracy there was in Latin America. It has murdered and plundered over much of the world.(Canadians should remember the many American invasions of our country.)

But insteach, we get  kind of idiocy can be found in American and Canadian schools and, I regret to say, in universities.

And that's why most countries have delusions about their past and, therefore, about their present.

In 2,000 years, Christian churches have never opposed a war which their countries supported. Jesus, apparently, was fully on the side of Canada, the U.S., Britain---and Hitler. All at the same time

I still remember vividly the day I  had been sent home from my grade six class for being late. My mother simply scooped me up to take a tram to downtown Montreal where I saw the streets jammed with cheering people. One carried a big sign. "We've won the the war. Now we've got to win the peace."

Wow! The war  at least the German war, was over. My father would be coming home.

He did come home. But peace didn't come. In particular, American capitalists didn't want peace. They wanted it to go on for a world conquest by the American super rich, supported by their flunkies in Canada, Britain and others. It's now the 75 year war.

Our capitalists never did win that war - and it's most likely they never will.

But they'll go on sending others to do the killing and dying for them.

And for the rest of us, we lost the peace.

The super rich depend on the Doug Fords of this world to send all money to them - and to hell with the consequences.

Surprised? You shouldn't be. Canada has always been profoundly racist. And it still is.

As I go through our commercial news media, I can get no sense at all of how dangerous this is, and of how little we're doing to handle it in an intelligent way. We have world crises. For example, we have a wide range of climate change issues that can make our planet unlivable - soon. But the Doug Fords and Donald Trumps and, indeed, all of our Liberals,Conservatives, Democrats and Republicans are making it worse on the bidding of our super-rich. We are close to the greatest and most destructive war this world has ever seen - and let's drop the crap about how evil our enemies are. We are more evil.

All of our wars, incidentally, have been criminal in the murdering of civilians including children. The only difference since 1945 is that they are deliberately   aimed mostly at civilians and children, something our news media usually fail to mention. These killings, in law, are illegal. We are openly starving uncounted millions to death. Children in Venezuela, for example, are being starved - along with their parents -  by the U.S. to force that country to  hand over it's oil industry to American (and Canadian) oil billionaires. And that is fully supported by that nice Mr. Trudeau. Your tax dollars at work.

The super rich, as always, are the most evil and vicious people on this planet. And this, with today's super weapons, can destroy all of us.

In ancient Rome, the death of an upper class person set the stage for a splendid funeral. But among most of the population, the dead were simply scooped up and dumped by thousands into huge pits.

We have to change. And we have less, much less, than a lifetime to do it.
