Western threats and bravado might seem like "making America great again"; but it won't make anybody great. A war with China would be a no-winner.Even a conventional war (a war without nuclear weapons) Would mean the greatest death toll in a war ever. A war just between the U.S. and China? Get real. This is the "America great" that hasn't been able in 20 years to defeat just a faction in Afghanistan.
In any case, it would soon turn into a nuclear war with the massive nuclear stockpiles of the U.S., Russia, India, Pakistan and the lesser ones of Britain, Israel, China raining down in their thousands.
Hmanity can no longer afford to fight wars.
We have to deal with China as we should have done in 1945. Instead, and to satisfy the greed of western big business, we went to war with China, and getting beaten, in Korea.
We humans are the only creatures on this earth who fight wars against each other. Other animals kill to get food (and we too do that), But they don't go on to fight organized wars against each other. And almost all of out wars in history have a common pattern. They were fought to satisfy the greed of the wealthy. Yes, that' even was what World War 2 was about. These have been the real cause of our wars for thousands of years.
Now, we have to break that pattern - before it breaks us.
Oh - and forgot all this crap about communism being evil. (I don't know whether it's evil or not.)
But let's get real. Capitalism is certainly evil. Hitler's Germany was capitalist. The American murder and plundering in Latin America is capitalist. All the horror of life and wars in the middle east are caused by capitalism. Millions in capitalist countries have to live on the streets. That includes children Almost all wars are wars of capitalism.

Canadian universities are ahead of the game - in a way.
They are letting students stay at home, and communicate by computer. But they need one more touch.
They should assign books for the students to read.
No. it's not a great way to learn. But I still remember many of my own classes. We had teachers who talked at us about what we had to memorize for exams. It was a nuisance to travel all the way to school every day, and hustle into a class of hundreds and make notes as we listened to professors, many of whom could not speak intelligibly about topics we would, for the most part, forget as soon as the exams were over,
Now, they can simply assign books which cover the same ground as the lectures - but more clearly and without the vagries of professors whose time is used up with um, ah, uh, and personal stories about their own genius. Reading could, in fact, be more effective than listening to profs.
I remember nothing much from my university courses, all nine years of them, so nothing would have been lost by reading a book instead of listening to a prof.
Of course, it would be even better if university profs learned how to teach. But that's not ever going to happen.

Millions of Americans live in squalor - and even in the streets. Millions of American children live (barely) in hunger. But, oh, the U.S. needs billions for its war budget. Why? Well, largely, it's because the super rich make piles of money out of the war budget. and the super rich own American governments. Yes, the U.S. starves the growing ranks of the poor, and sends billions of dollars to the super rich. (We can see the same thing in much of Canada - as in Alberta and Ontario.)

Today's blog has been the most terrible experience for me. The U.S. is collapsing Oh, the super rich won't collapse - yet. They'll be the last to see the horror that they have created. Canada remains actively evil with it's Conservatives, and, at best, wimpy with it's Liberals. Seventy-fivw years after World War Too, we have blundered without a break into a world of greed and horror. All that was promised in 1945 was abndoned almost from the start, abandoned by the super rich with the help of sell-out Liberals, Conservatives, Democrats and Republicans.
I think now of the signs I saw on that day in 1945 when I was sent home from school for being late, and spent the day in jubilant cries of "We've won the the war! Now we've got to win the peace."
Well, we didn't lose the peace.No. We threw it away in the plundering of middle east oil, in a Korean War that was really a war to invade China. We abused the whole of Latin America. We even threw away our own poor so the super rich could could avoid taxes and walk home with the greatest profits in modern history. We are murdering and plundering all over the world to please the super rich. And we are even increasing the numbers of the poor as we drive them deeper into poverty. And as I write this, poverty and deep hunger in much of the world have created horrors we really can't imagine.
Even as our whole planet collapses with greater horrors yet to come, we do nothing to stop the oil that is going to destroy us.
And political leadership? Well, we vote for a Trudeau and a Ford, and the puppet on a string who rules Alberta, and an Irving in New Brunswick. And the U.S. votes for a Trump and a Biden.
I don't know how much time we have. I do know we are delivering our families into the hands of the most corrupt and evil people this world has ever seen.
