Not to worry. Premier Doug Ford of Ontario says there is no climate change. And he has a high school leaving certificate. So there. And the Conservative party agrees with him.
The reality is it is happening. And we have no idea how much or how little time we have to deal with it. And the task facing us is huge, so huge that any efforts we have made so far are piddling. At our present pace, there is not the slightest chance this planet will survive.
As well, there will be tremendous suffering before the crash. In fact, that suffering is already happening. That's why we are seeing migrants from countries whose food supplies are dying. (You know, like the ones that nobody wants in their countries. So we kick their rubber lifeboats back out to sea.) That number is going to climb much, much higher. And climate change is the reason that someday soon the wildfires of California will destroy Los Angeles and San Francisco.

We should not be electing politicians who always kiss up to what the U.S. wants. We do it all over the world. And that's what a colony does. Ever wonder why Canada is having a hard time getting a seat on UN agencies?
Wonder no more. Ever since 1945, Canada has been a bumboy for the American Empire. Canada has killed at the wish of U.S. billionaires - Korea, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria. I'm sorry to see this. But the reality is that neither the Greens nor the NDP take our future nearly seriously enough. And neither of them takes a nearly hard enough line against a super-rich class that impoverishes most of us and that has driven us to the edge of economic and social disaster, a disaster that is probably very close.
The super-rich have enormous power in Canada, the U.S., Britain.... Indeed, they ARE the real governments of those countries. They are also too greedy (and/or
too stupid) to see where they're taking us. And where they have taken us since 1945 has been constant wars and mass murder. (And we have been brainless enough to let them hide their tax money in secret accounts. Does that cost us?

In the case of the NDP, this weakness is linked to it's dependence on union support. That still leaves the NDP well behind the Liberals and Conservatives in funding - and it limits how tough they can get in an election. Of course. The old CCF had to line up with the NDP in order to raise money. But the price was that it lost the power to deliver a moral government that was dedicated to meet the needs of all the people.

The U.S. spreads democracy? Like hell it does. The whole of American history is one of murder and plunder - starting with American aboriginals. Then, for over a century. plundering Latin America. It used two world wars to plunder Britain (which itself had just plundered much of the world.) The U.S. wants to bring democracy to Cuba? It had it's chance to do so from 1920 or so on. An Afterthought
A striking feature of the American political scene is the role of those Christian American people who call themselves Evangelicals. Indeed, these are the ones whose votes largely were the ones who elected Trump. And it was largely the white ones who elected him. And they are still far the most numerous of Trump's supporters. Indeed, they are the ones who could elect him for a second term/
So who are they?
I got interested in them many years ago when a friend became an evangelical preacher. I thought even that strange. We occasionally went out together to do some shooting in the country. He fired a shot as we got out of the car. His target was - a large animal on the low branch of a tree? A child? I couldn't tell at that range. The whole day was like that.
On the drive home, he was stopped for a traffic offence. As the policeman approached, he opened the door to make a grab at the policemen and punch him. I had to jump over to pull him back. Call me naive, but it thought that unusual behaviour for a clergyman.
My curiosity roused, I visited the church that had bred him. It was showbiz, pure showbiz. And the preacher gave a sermon that pretty well condemned regular Christian churches. They were doomed to hell for the final coming. Only evangelicals would be saved.
At the end of it, there was a prayer for which we were all told to close our eyes. And, with eyes still closed, we were invited to move to the pulpit to be saved.
'Yes', said the preacher. 'Come this way. Thank you madam. Bless you Sir.'
But, sinner that I am, my eyes weren't closed And I saw that nobody had moved.
Eventually and after some more show biz, a few did go forward.
After the service, I talked to a few of the faithful. They were obsessed with going to heaven. And the only way to go to heaven and live forever with God
was to be an evangelical.
Then there were the evangelical preachers - like Billy Graham who brought salvation to the White House. No. He never, never criticized the world murdering by American presidents and congressmen. He never criticized their bad treatment of the American people He praised them as agents of God - just as the evangelicals of today praise Trump for his brutal treatment of migrants fleeing the horrors of being Latin American colonials in the American Empire.
And unlike many of America's black preachers, they never had a word to say about racism in the U.S.
Indeed, among the American preachers, it was pretty clear that God was a (white) American.
How could they join in praise of what was virtually an American God when America was slaughtering innocent people all over the world in the millions?
(Mind you, until 1950 or so, the British clearly understood that God was British and the Empire was God's gift to wealthy Brits. So that sort of thinking did spread into the more conventional churches as in the British
Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the free, How shall we extole thee, Who are born of thee, Wider and still wider, Shall thy bounds be set, God who made the mighty, Make thee mightier yet!!, God who made thee mighty, Make thee mightier ye
That's why the British and Americans didn't have to pay any attention to the Ten Commandments, among them, "Thou shalt not kill." (God made them so murderous that the British Empire killed over 400 million. Americans have yet to catch up. But I'm sure they will, with God's help.)
From all I've seen, Evangelicals are the least Christian and the most self righteous killers of any this world has seen. And, oh, they love Donald Trump. And, oh, they show no sign of human intelligence. That's why Trump - a man without any trace of Christian principle, could still be a contender for another term.

Then there were the evangelical preachers - like Billy Graham who brought salvation to the White House. No. He never, never criticized the world murdering by American presidents and congressmen. He never criticized their bad treatment of the American people He praised them as agents of God - just as the evangelicals of today praise Trump for his brutal treatment of migrants fleeing the horrors of being Latin American colonials in the American Empire.
And unlike many of America's black preachers, they never had a word to say about racism in the U.S.
Indeed, among the American preachers, it was pretty clear that God was a (white) American.
How could they join in praise of what was virtually an American God when America was slaughtering innocent people all over the world in the millions?
(Mind you, until 1950 or so, the British clearly understood that God was British and the Empire was God's gift to wealthy Brits. So that sort of thinking did spread into the more conventional churches as in the British

That's why the British and Americans didn't have to pay any attention to the Ten Commandments, among them, "Thou shalt not kill." (God made them so murderous that the British Empire killed over 400 million. Americans have yet to catch up. But I'm sure they will, with God's help.)
From all I've seen, Evangelicals are the least Christian and the most self righteous killers of any this world has seen. And, oh, they love Donald Trump. And, oh, they show no sign of human intelligence. That's why Trump - a man without any trace of Christian principle, could still be a contender for another term.
