August 08: Last Call.....

Of course we're getting a lot of violence mixed in with our politics these days.
That happens when politicians play the race card - and when so many of our politicians have nothing to offer. This is particularly true in the U.S. of almost all Republicans - and large numbers of Democrats. In Canada, it's true of the Conservatives and Liberals.

And that means we could be heading into some very violent times.

Dominixc Leblanc is the major New Brunswick patsy for getting favours for the Liberal Party from  Irving, the multibillionaire  who lives for whoever is in federal power. The Irvings are always on the take.   That's why many, many millions of dollars are forever disappearing in one of Canada's poorest provinces. 

As for the rest of those scum, the people of New Brunswick, there's no need for Irving help and Irving flights  - let'em walk.

Note that their are many sites  devoted to denying climate change- and those include so-called think tanks. These, supposedly, are made up of some of the great thinkers of our time. And their 'research' is avidly reported by some (most) of our news media.

In fact, their research consists of writing propaganda for the billionaires who pay their bills. And gushing reports of it appear regularly in the daily press - usually in the editorial section. A notable example for Canada is postmedia, the child of Conrad Black. It always has room for the latest propaganda report assuring us that    climate change is not happening.

Yes. most of our daily news media exist to lie to us. And most of our super wealthy use their news media to lie to us. They always have. And the lies work. That's why, after 30 years of dithering  we've  made so little progress.

Almost all North American news media are liars and propagandists. And most people believe in them. Most North Americans are going to vote in months. Our news media have been lying to us for a good hundred and fifty years. But this time the stakes are as big as they can get. So big that even the winner will be a loser.

Canada is in serious trouble  - and at a time when it has not given any thought to the challenge facing us.

Dealing with climate change is not a simple matter of saying we're going to do - something. We've given close to no thought of the problems that will create.
If we're going to do anything serious, it was to include a very sudden shift away from oil for transportation, for heat. And no, we can't take twenty years to do it.
We have to deal somehow  with hundreds of millions of people already refugeed by lack of food. We have to stop a twit like Trudeau from kissing up to the US by being it's 'ally'. We going to have to figure out how to get food to much of the world. We have to go back to  1945 and set up a world of cooperation (which we didn't do in 1945.)

Refugees? There are lots on the way, and we can't drown them all.

The reality is that we must take on the largest task in history just to survive. And, no, building a pipeline with government money  won't be enough to do it. Nor will we accomplish anything if we rely on a blustering ass like premier Kenney of Alberta.

Nor can we let billionaires walk out with their pockets bulging with the tax money they don't pay. (Nor can we leave it up to our billionaires to shoulder the task or any part of it.)

We have to change our whole way of looking at society. Throughout history, we have lived by systems with very, very rich people as leaders. And these, by the force of arms, have forced the rest of us to obey them.  That is the history of government in this world. We cannot afford to do it any more. But it's obvious this project is the biggest in history, the most complex, and the one we have barely looked at in thirty years.

We can't let our existing forms of government take control. In much of the world, government is largely mythical. In the U.S, in Canada, real government is by the very wealthy who pay  off the government. And that isn't going to get us anywhere.

In all the years we have known about this, our governments have done close to nothing. And this is even worse because the job is so much bigger than it sounds.
If we had a hundred years to deal with it (and we almost certainly don't) it wouldn't be enough.

In the coming five years or so, I can't imagine the Liberals getting much past building pipelines. And the Conservatives (of whatever label) have done less, even much less.

We haven't a moment to waste on wars. Pipelines are insane. This is the greatest task ever undertaken in human history. Indeed, we don't even know how deep this crisis goes. It's not just that we have to get oil out of our lives. It's also that we have to change our whole, human social structure all over the world.

And how much time to we  have? Nobody has any idea.

And who will lead us? Evidence is neither the Conservatives nor the Liberals will. And evidence is Canadians will go on voting for horse's asses like the Liberals and Conservatives.

And even the billionaires will die.
