The U.S. increasingly reminds me of the British imperial days. The British never admitted to war crimes, either, though they murdered, starved over 300 million to death. But they called it glory, and thanked God for making Britain great.
The U.S. is imperial Britain all over again. The U.S. starved tens of thousands children and babies to death in Yemen. It murdered some 200,000 Maya - and priests and nuns - in Guatemala. It smothered Vietnam in poisonous chemicals that are still killing. It tortured (and still tortures) thousands all over the world. It set up a brutal dictatorship in Chile..... But, like the British Empire, it's all glory, glory...
God save the Queen. Hail to the Trump. Ain't no war crimes here.

But Arabs are Semites, too. Yes, they are. Semite is a very wide ranging language group. So when Netanyahu attacks Palestinians, he's being an anti-Semite. And based on his murderous behaviour, he's one of the world's biggest anti-Semites.
I remember the day - I was about 15 - when I was visiting Jewish friends in what was then Montreal's Jewish ghetto. There were joyful signs in story windows and smiles all the people around me. A state of Israel had been created - a homeland for Jews. I was excited and as joyful as any of my friends.
Most of us now profoundly regret the racist state that is Israel.

I'm not sure I agree with this one. The world of journalism has rarely been honest since the advent of mass media in the late 19th century. Most news media, then and now, have been propaganda agencies for their wealthy owners.

It's been a dreadful day for news. Russia and China have, quite legitimately, established themselves in Venezuela to the anger of the U.S. So we have a gathering of the world's three leading nuclear powers. And a nuclear war is very possible, not even from some deliberate choice but from over-tension and a moment of panic from one of the nuclear bases spread all over the world.
Is it possible that such a stupid thing could happen? Well, it did happened, almost, some years ago. A Russian officer at a nuclear base got the the order that western missiles were on their way. And if he had fired, this would have been game over for the world. Luckily, this was an officer not afraid to think - and he delayed just long enough for the order to be cancelled.
Then we have the case of Alberta whose voters seem to want further development of it's oilfields. Duh - they create jobs.
Duh, yeah. They also poison the world. The election will almost certainly be won by the party that wants to poison the world, the United Conservatives. (I wonder where these idiots breed.)
Someday soon, the order will have to go out to end all oil production. When that happens, the jolly oil barons who have been pumping the stuff will scamper off with the loot - leaving all those Alberta voters with a bill for some 270 BILLION dollars to clean up those fields.
Most of our prominent politicians are bought. And they have proven they don't give a damn for the health or welfare or even the survival of humanity in this world.
Meanwhile, Europe is getting very nervous about American leadership. Watch for it to be looking eastward. (Britain is not a factor in this. It is a puppet state of the U.S. - but the U.S. won't be doing it any favours.)
The U.S., meanwhile, is heading for disaster. It's government is not only slow in setting basic projects to support human life (like medical care), it's military is a spending chaos as the government cannot track down some 75 TRILLION dollars in defense spending. It is also in the midst of developing the most expensive fighter plane in history.
Of course, the U.S. debt is staggering, especially since American billionaires, like Canadian ones, don't pay taxes. This has meant a steady increase in taxation for the rest of us. It also has meant we have to cut spending on 'frills' like health care, medical care, education, basic survival expenses.....
In effect, we are ruled by the greediest of our greedy. And it's getting progressively worse. The road we're on is going to crash.
Oh, it's a bad day for writing a blog.
