A lesson in hypocrisy and ignorance. There are many millions of Americans who will believe that the U.S. wants to restore democracy to Venezuela. They still don't know that this is the same U.S. that murdered 200,00 Guatemalans to destroy democracy there. It is the same U.S. that destroyed democracy in Chile for 15 years. It is the same U.S. that built up a brutal dictatorship in Cuba, and wants now to push it back into that dictatorship. The closest buddy of the U.S. is Saudi Arabia, one of the most brutal dictatorships in the world.

This has been the most depressing blog I have written. We live in a world which is, really, very unmodern. Real power in this world is held by a social elite who are in positions of power largely because they were born there. That has been the whole history of us. It's a social elite that has always be cruel and self-serving That was true of the Roman Empire, the ones before it and the ones after it.
There is no connection between this social elite and brains or morality. It is there simply because it was born there. That has been the curse of mankind throughout the centuries. This social elite, as always, thinks only of its own wants. In our time, it is a social elite made up of billionaires with a dreadfully destructive greed that the rest of us have to die for.
The billionaires call it patriotism.
And we are very, very close to being the final victims of their history of greed and arrogance.
If we are to survive, we have to deal with these people. We have to have the courage to stand up against greed and stupidity. The alternative is a saturation of death in the nearing war. A nuclear war would destroy not only billions of people. It would also destroy agriculture for most of the world. Indeed, there would be no world left for human existence. But a nuclear war is precisely what the very greedy are preparing for.
These people are wildly irresponsible. (and not very bright, and without an ounce of morality.) Millions have died for them in the past. (I know, I know. Hitler was evil. But that's not why World War Two was fought. The Churchills of this world didn't give a damn that he was evil. They didn't give a damn about the Jews.For that matter, the American war with Japan was not caused simply by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. It ha much more do with the eagerness of American business to take over the China trade now that Britain was getting kicked out.)
The news is no help. Almost all major news sources are owned and controlled by billionaires who use them for their propaganda. That's why they never told us what the Korean War was really all about. That's why an extremely foolish Canadian government sent Canadian troops into war in Afghanistan - and into "peacekeeping" in Haiti, and other operations that had nothing to do with Canada.
We have had almost nothing but wars, especially in Latin America and the middle east - and almost all of them started by U.S politicians who are bought and paid for by U.S. billionaires. In effect, we live in a world largely governed and controlled by extremely greedy people of no great intelligence.
It's been over 30 years since we learned of climate change. And these very greedy people have not lifted a finger to deal with it. Nor will they.
You want to see evil? Take a look at the history of western capitalism. We are in very great danger as we approach the crash time.
