https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/elections/netanyahu-to-be-charged-with-bribery-pending-hearing-1.6961872

Israel's Netanyahu has long been suspected - and more than suspected - of bribery and massive corruption. Indeed, a major reason he had to win the recent election was the hope that would keep him out of jail.

But now, the game may be up.

That really won't make much difference to Israel's warlike ways. There is no significant  'peace party' in Israel.

It might be interesting to see how this plays in the North American press.  Israel has a powerful lobby group that is particularly effective in Canada and the U.S. Will they be able to kill this story as they have killed many others? Or will they opt to dump Netanyahu? The North American press and North American politicians have been very, very kind to Netanyahu's Israel. North American Jews have been much less so. I confess that I have - with strong reason - favoured North American Jews and have profoundly disliked the Israeli lobby as bullies and liars.

I just had a note from my daughter in Montreal. She joined the climate March with it's hundreds of thousands of people as it headed to Montreal's city hall.
Then it stopped, and microphones were brought to Greta Thunberg. My daughters was paralyzed by the moment.

Greta Thunberg had stopped just a few feet from her. She began to speak.

My daughter couldn't help herself. She burst into tears.

Too true. The bulk of the blame should go on the most vicious and greedy thieves this world has ever seen. Our captains of industry - aka capitalists. But let's not forget the liars and traitors among our politicians and our journalists.

Conditions for native peoples in Canada have always been vile. I particularly remember a news story about an elderly woman who lived in a northern forest in a 'house' hardly bigger than an outhouse. It was made entirely of plywood - with no windows, no basement, no washroom, no insulation. It must have had a stove - though I didn't see one in the picture.

No government has, to my knowledge, ever taken  the treatment of native peoples seriously.

http://rabble.ca/news/2019/09/legacy-jordan-river-anderson

In fairness, though, almost all Canadian governments  have been huge gifts to billionaires, including huge gifts of money as well as allowing them to avoid taxes - and as well as doing nothing about the damage those billionaires are doing to all of us.

And that will be the death of Canada.

Not to worry. The real reason for America's huge defence budget is to make huge profits for the capitalists who make these things. (And, no, I am not making this up.) Watch to see whether the Canadian air force gets sucked into buying these.

Sept. 26: Are Americans even dumber than Canadians?

This afternoon, I watched a speech as delivered by Donald Trump. It was blatant lying. Blatant, vicious and murderous. Everyone should have known that - but I'd be willing to bet that most Canadians and Americans will buy his vicious lies.

Did Trump believe what he was saying? I doubt it. Trump cannot have been such American billionaires.

When Castro led Cubans to freedom, the U.S. tried many times to assassinate him. It also, ever since, has kept Cuba as a  nation in poverty, illegally destroying Cuba's right to trade with other countries.

The story of Venezuela is similar. U.S. oil barons were eager to get control of Venezuela's oil fields. Venezuela had no wish to hand them over to U.S. billionaires. So the U.S. destroyed the Venezuelan economy - which is why so many people, especially children, are dying.

Trump says the U.S. would restore democracy. Sure. In fact, the U.S. has spent a century destroying democracy all over Latin America. The worst case was that of  the CIA (an American gang of hired thugs, led by George Bush Sr.) murdered at least 200,000 Guatemalans The kills included large numbers of missionaries, priests, nuns. Canadian and American news media have thoughtfully never published the story of that mass murder. ( One of the murdered missionaries is buried in his home province of New Brunswick. But New Brunswick's politicians and news media have never thought that worth mentioning.)

Guatemala's sin? It was a democracy.

Much the same happened to Chile and to many other countries in Latin America.
The U.S. does not encourage democracy. American capitalists don't like it.

For over a century, the U.S. has murdered and impoverished millions all over Latin America. That's because American governments are owned by American billionaires - and things like decent salaries and education and living conditions get in the way.

The U.S. destroys democracies because democracies get in the way of plundering.  Even a Trump must know that.

Is it possible that Canadian and American news media keep most of this secret? It's very possible. American capitalists (like the old British and other European ones) don't like democracy. They don't like prosperity in countries they are plundering. And they certainly don't like democracies that would kick them out.

Are the American and Canadian people so deaf, dumb, and blind that they don't see this? It would seem so - and for a start because most of our news media are owned by the same people who order the murder and plundering.

It's not too much to say that Trump (and most American presidents of our time) are Hitlers.

No. I didn't write that for shock value. U.S. (and Canadian and other capitalists) are trying to own the world just as Hitler was trying to own Europe and Africa. They are the Nazis of our time. That's why at least 20 million men, women and children have been murdered just by the U.S.

Why do you think the U.S. invaded North Korea, Afghanistan, and Vietnam. None of those countries was in a position to attack the U.S. - and none were even thinking about it. But for the U.S., North Korea was to be a base to attack China. Afghanistan was to plunder the resources of that country.(No. Afghanistan had nothing to do with New York's 9/11. all the people involved in that were our good friends in Saudi Arabia.)

Nor does the U.S  give anybody democracy. The threat to Iran is because U.S. billionaires want control of Iranian oil. How soon we forget--- Iran was a democracy for a time after World War 2. The U.S. and its friends destroyed it by installing a dictatorship so that western capitalists could plunder it. But Iran broke free. So now the capitalists need another war.

The U.S. has a long history of mass murder. That included  several invasions of Canada. and a massive invasion of Mexico. That's why so many American cities from Texas and all the way to Canada have Spanish names.)  It was built on the bodies of millions of its native peoples (especially including children and babies), on the bodies of Latin Americans,, Canadians, Africans....  In short, American capitalists own American politicians. And they tell the politicians who to kill.

Of course, that's not what their school books tell American children. No. In the books, Canada was invaded because it was a threat to the poor little U.S. Yes, it was.  That's wny the U.S. had to invade Canada in 1812. Yes. It was, in school books, The Second War of Independence.

And the soldiers, proud to serve their country, march off and come back to parade on "Highways for Heroes". Canadians have done the same for Korea, Haiti, Afghanistan, Syria...

You're proud of them? That's reasonable.  We lied to them, telling them what good things they were doing. They weren't doing good things. But it wasn't their fault that we lied.

Oh, you'll notice that the U.S. is particularly strong on killing Latins, Muslims, Asians. Yep. We're following in Hitler's footsteps. These killings are the American version of Hitler's Jews. The German people accepted Hitler's murder of Jews. And the American people accept their mass murder of other peoples. That's why Trump has played so heavily on the 'evil' of Latin Americans.

Where did the U.S. first concentrate on mass killing of children? That was Korea. Ditto - in Yemen. Ditto - in Iraq.  That's why they cheer Trump or putting thousands of Latin American children into wire cages. Among the 20 million and more the U.S. has murdered since 1945, a great many - millions - have been children. These have become America's Jews - and the U.S. has probably killed more of them than Hitler did Jews. But that was okay. In the Nazi and the American view, such people were untermensch.

In 1945, we thought the fighting was over. It wasn't. Ever since 1945, we have been fighting Hitler's war all over again, but this time fighting it for the same reason  as the Nazis fought, plunder for the wealthy. And it's war in which we are targeting our version of the Jews.

(Worse. The Israeli Jews, in their attacks on Palestinians, have  become, the Nazis.)

But Americans are fed on lies. They have actually believed that Canadians, Latin Americans, native peoples,  and many others were  threats to the U.S. Canadians will see how that plays out as American capitalists focus on the plundering of Canada's far North as the melting ice makes mining possible.

Why is it so big? Well, it might be because  wealthy Americans own and can make huge profits out of war industries. It's part of the process of robbing the American people and starving the children of the poor to pour billions of dollars into the pockets of the rich.

And it's going to crash. And the crash will be on all of us.

https://countercurrents.org/2019/09/for-democracy-in-venezuela-u-s-triples-aid

Of course. The U.S. is eager to help Venezuela become a democracy. Oh, yes. Come off it.  The U.S. has generally destroyed democracy all over Latin America. And it's closest buddy, Saudi Arabia, is arguably the most anti-democratic country in the world. The U.S. has a long record of destroying democracies. Try Guatemala and Chile. for example Try Iran in 1948. Try The Phillippines  which the U.S. conquered in 1901, and was still a dictatorship in 1941. And after the Japanese were expelled, it became a dictatorship again.

But heck...

All Venezuela has to do is hand over all its oil to a few American billionaires.

It's not surprising that so many Canadian newspapers do only minor reporting on climate change. Ever since the birth of the modern newspaper about 1870, newspapers have been propaganda agents for their wealthy owners. And that got worse, much worse, with the rise of the very arrogant Conrad Black who founded Toronto Post - now with its ownership of myriad puppet newspapers.
_________________________________________________________________

I found much of the tone of this next item distasteful, But it does open a side to what is happening in Hong Kong - a side that has not been covered in our news media. And it's true that the waving of British and American flags by the protesters is absurd. British behaviour in China - and in Hong Kong when that was left to the British - was  always cruel, exploitive, vicious, arrogant. And it was never democratic The same was  true of American intrusions into China.

And it's hard (impossible) to believe the rioters don't know that.

When we defeated Nazi Germany in 1945, we became the new Hitlers. And, like the original Hitler, we became the agents of our capitalists. Funny how we forget. Big business just loved Hitler because he was going to beat off the socialists. And it wasn't just German big business that loved him. No. Hitler had big business admirers in Britain and the U.S. - and Canada. And he held on to those admirers even as he publicly urged Germans to attack Jews and to destroy their businesses.

I'm reminded here of an Israeli friend who, as a child, was a survivor of one of the death camps. His favourite joke was about  a Jew who built a house, an identical copy of Henry Ford's house, and built it next door to Ford. Soon, he met Ford.

"I have a better house than you do", he said.

"How can it be better", Grunted Ford. "It's an exact copy of my house."

"Yes, but I don't have a Jew living next door to me"

At this most dangerous time in the life of Canada, our political parties are discussing trivia..

Our world leaders will get things under control by 2050? Wow! That's a mere 60 years from when they were first warned about this. Let's get real.

Can Canadians seriously suggest that the Conservatives are going to do anything significant? If they haven't done anything for thirty years, you think t they're suddenly going to jump into action? Think hard, They won the recent election in Alberta precisely on the argument they would do nothing.

The Liberals have said they will take action. But taking any significant action is precisely what they have not done. Nor have the Greens and the NDP been all that lively.

Thirty years is a long time. And we have no idea how quickly the situation might develop. So are we going to suffer from this casual approach? You get we are. We're already suffering from unusually strong hurricanes. We're suffering from agricultural disasters that are going to plunge a billion people into suffering and migration. (And we're not going to do a thing to help them.)  Arctic and Antarctic meltdown are happening fast. Animal and bird species are disappearing in the millions.

In thirty years, we have done nothing. And in another thirty years? I see no reason to have faith in the oil industry, for one. And the oil industry owns the Liberals, the Conservatives, the U.S. Republicans and most of the Democrats.

And the Canadian and American people? Most of those of voting age are out to lunch.

Later, I took a closer look at  his life. And I learned that he could really lie, too.

Churchill was raised in a strange and lonely home for a child. As the son of an aristocrat,, his superiority over all other was bred into him. He had nothing but contempt for all but English speaking peoples - and a murderous contempt for the people who suffered through the British Empire. He killed millions of innocent people by starvation  - as in India and China.

He also had utter com tempt to those British who were not wealthy or aristocrats.

As for his performance as a leader in World War Two, that was largely a creation of the western news media of the time.

http://rabble.ca/news/2019/09/trudeau-blackface-symptom-canadas-widespread-anti-black-racism

Within eighty years - and probably much much less - all humanity goes off a cliff. But the Liberals and Conservatives couldn't care less. And the Canadian voters are worse. And the posturing of our news media, including CBC, is worse.

And we choose this time to parade our false virtue.

Canada is and always has been racist. And that's true of just about every country in the world. Quebec has a law forbidding the wearing of religious symbols at work.  In hundreds of years of history, and in a province that has been loaded down with religious symbols - including a massive, steel cross on Montreal's mountain - do you think it is a coincidence that Quebec suddenly has a Muslim population that wears religious symbols?

We are racists. We always have been. I'm not advocating racism. I'm just saying we are racists.

Canada's first cabinet minister from a visible minority member was in1978 - pretty close to when Trudeau was  born.

First black hockey player? That was Wellie 0'ree. In 1957.

First black Canadian MP -  Lincoln Alexander, 1968.

About 1960, the Montreal police chief, on  holiday in The Gaspe, decided to visit the family of a recent recruit. It turned out the father of the new police officer was black. And the chief fired the son the first day he want back to work.

In 1965, I was a student at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, a school of righteous Baptists. It had just accepted it's first black student.

Quebec didn't accept black school teachers until the 1960s.

One of NDP leader Singh's problems is that he has a dark complexion and wears a turban.

In New France, slaves were sometimes torn apart by horses.

Check the building of the CPR. The dangerous jobs - like using dynamite were given to Chinese. And the death rate was high.

In Montreal and, presumably, most Canadian cities a common addition to house rental signs was "Select clientele only."  That means no blacks, no orientals, no Jews. In a couple of summers, I learn ed what bigotry meant when I worked for a Jewish camp - and wore the camp T shirt every day. The worst was the day I visited a summer vacation spot of Montreal's English wealthy Christians. That evening there was a meeting of the lake association to find out who had invited the Jew.

A friend of mine who was black  wanted to study law but had no money. But he was an outstanding hockey player. So he applied to McGill for a hockey scholarship. But McGill wasn't accepting blacks or, at  least very, very few. (So he went to Harvard, played hockey, and became a distinguished lawyer.)

So let's get serious on several points. Canadians are and always have been racists. Going blackface is a pretty mild example of that.

This election is about the survival of Canada and the world. And we don't know when the curtain is going to fall. This is far the most dangerous election ever. The real issue is not what silliness Trudeau did in his younger years. Unless we all insist of dealing with the real issue, we all go over a cliff

Meanwhile, if we really want to deal with racism, let's get serious about it. All of us.

So, please, can we and our news media get serious?
_____________________________________________________________

Oh, if you're a Canadian, you might check out Post Media which owns dailies all over Canada and which specializes in its own lies. It is really a tool of the very, very rich to spread their propaganda. And the very, very rich want to destroy the Liberals and let oil profits  flourish. And the Conservatives will do that. So it had an editorial on Friday saying Trudeau must resign. This sort of bias and propaganda is what  this papers live on.

Mind you, I do not say this to urge anybody to vote Liberal. (I have never in my life voted Liberal or Conservative. And right now, I;m not crazy about anybody.) I'd just like to see an election that deals with real issues.

The American objective in Iran is what it has been since 1948. To destroy and form of independent government. Indeed, it goes back to a similar effort by Britain in the 1920s.

The British forced Iran to  sell all it's oil to Britain at low prices set by Britain. As well,, Iran had to supply all the oil for the whole British navy free of charge. Iran ended that after World War 2. So the British asked for American help to overthrow the government and install a dictator. The U.S. was happy since that gave the U.S.oil on the cheap.

But Iran kicked out the dictator and restored an elected government. The U.S. has never liked that. And it has been working for years to restore a dictator.

This election campaign has virtually nothing to say to us.

Oh, the U.S. asked Saudi Arabia for proof it was Iran that bombed the Saudi airfield. No problem. The Saudis answered within hours that them there Iranians did it.

And that answer was predictable even as the words were spoken as we got the answer. Saudi Arabia announced that Iran had done it. So it's okay. The US can nuke Iran  right away. I mean, if  you can't trust Saudi Arabia, who can you trust?

Trump has, I suspect, backed himself into a corner.

But, boy, you gotta admire those Saudis. I mean, just hours after the attack it had the answer. Who woulda guessed?

Of course, the U.S. and the Saudis have been killing the people of Yemen for several years - and specializing in starving the children. But that's okay.

Will Canada be joining this fight? Quite possibly.  Canadian government always kiss up to the U.S.  And Trudeau has a history of supporting U.S. mass murder.
(I'm so proud we have a prime minister who's nice to Mr. Trump.)
_______________________________________________________________
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/sep/18/saudi-oil-attack-rouhani-dismisses-us-claims-of-iran-role-as-slander

Let's all sit down and think really, really hard. And for that we have to turn to a newspaper more honest than the North Americans are.

What would Iran gain by attacking Saudi oilfields?

Answer - nothing. That wouldn't frighten the U.S. away. Nor would it reduce th strength of weaponry that could be aimed at Iran. And crippling the Oilfields for a few months? That's hardly a death blow to Saudi Arabia.

What it would set up is an attack on Iran

And note how quickly Saudi Arabia accused Iran. Positively identifying the origins of such an attack can be quite a job. But anyone with half a brain would see the danger of jumping to conclusions here.

But the U.S., on the basis of a VERY speedy analysis, has announced the villain was Iran - a country that could not possibly gain anything from that attack. Indeed, it could only set itself up for an attack by vastly superior forces.

No. Nothing in this story makes sense. But who, obviously, stands to gain from it?

The American oil industry does. It's the one that has been pushing for a war against Iran for some years. The American oil industry wants ownership and control of Iran's oil. That's why these tensions with Iran developed in the first place. And the American oil industry has friends, to say the least, in the U.S. government.

Britain, of course, will almost certainly join in when the U.S. tells it to. The rest of Europe? Not likely.

Canada? Quite possibly. The U.S. might want a sort of repeat of the Korean War in this case. And both the Liberals and the Conservatives would would send Canadians to die for the U.S. oil industry.

Think hard.

An Iranian attack on Saudi Arabia makes no sense whatever. Indeed, it simply weakens the Iranian position. Who benefits? The U.S. oil industry which gets the control over Iran that it has always wanted.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/saudi-arabia-promises-proof-iran-behind-oil-plant-attack-1.5287893

Note the CBC's caution in its announcement of this story. It's headline refers to an ALLEGED Iranian attack. You certainly will rarely see this word 'alleged' in most reports. That's because most north American news media always see our side as telling the truth even as they lie. The CBC is more careful, and more honest.

And here's a pretty good opinion about what is happening.

Oh, come off it. Yes, it is distasteful to do a black face act. But these acts were common in the U.S. and Canada until fairly recently. I can remember seeing them in my church concerts  - and this was a church that had some highly respected Black  members. My elementary school routinely had such acts.
Al Jolson was a massively popular singer whose whole career was blackface.

No, Trudeau shouldn't have done it. But he was 29, for pete's sake. Nor does he have the slightest sign of racial prejudice at any point.

This overreaction is typical of this election. Of all the problems Canada faces - including our support of the U.S. mass murder of orientals and Muslims, including destruction of all human life on the planet - the bad taste of a 29 year old is pretty trivial. (tell us about all  the blacks who have been Conservative leaders over the past hundred and fifty years.)

If there were evidence of Trudeau's racism now, that would be different. But all this fuss is  disgusting.

Look. We Canadians, just about all of us, are racist. Let's not kid ourselves.  In Nova Scotia, Blacks were dreadfully treated. They were forced, in Halifax, to live in a town at the foot of a garbage dump. When I was a university student in Nova Scotia, blacks were just being accepted - and very, very few of them. Most theatres still forced them to sit in balcony seats. There was a separate home for Black orphans. It was a vile building in a vile setting, and I still shudder at the thought of it.

I grew up in a Montreal that forced almost all blacks and orientals to live in their own ghettoes. And, certainly, none would ever get jobs on the police force. (A typical rental ad was "Select clientele only." And we all knew what that meant.)
Black women, of whatever education, could get work only as household servants.
If black woman wanted decent pay, they could get it only as singers and dancers in nightclubs. (But they were not allowed to talk to clients, or to sit with them even if invited.) Blacks were ignored as potential clerks in department stores.)

Canada's national film board (NFB) has a film on the subject for which I was an adviser.  It's called 'Showgirls".

I taught for a very large school board that employed not one black or oriental.

A New Brunswick city is remembered in a poem as "City so white you will not cut a black man's hair."

We white Canadians are as racist as any people in the world. (We just don't admit it.) Yes, Trudeau was wrong to do blackface. But if race is going to be an issue in this election, not all the blame should be dumped on a rich kid called Trudeau. We are all up to our ears in racism.

We are facing the most desperate future in history. And all we're getting out of our candidates is trivia and gossip for this most trivial election - on the part of all parties - in the history of this country. Alas! We're also getting trivia from our news media. There should be a book about the long record of Canada's news media in employing only whites.
_______________________________________________________________

For the future,  this is a hell of a lot more important than what Trudeau did as a 29 year old.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/bird-population-decline-1.5288454

In this crucial election, our politicians are campaigning on triviality. And it's disgusting - and worse, we shall have to pay one hell of a price for their behaviour.

And the Canadian people deserve no credit. They are dancing to this childish drivel we call an election. We have a total of 80 years of fatal decline facing us.We have increasing poverty. So who gives a damn? Not the political parties. And not  those soggy wretches we call the Canadian people.

This is almost certainly the election that will destroy Canada and it's people. If we elect conservatives, they will so badly delay dealing with climate change, it will probably be too late. Ditto for the LIberals.

Conservatives are prostitutes for the oil industry. Liberals are wimps. The NDP and the Greens are doing their best to be boring and trivial. And the Canadian people? Out to lunch.

And watch for another development. U.S. big business, especially mining, wants control of the north. (That's what the attempt to buy Greenland was all about.) And they may well decide to do something similar through Alberta.

Unless there is a sudden change - and unless the Canadian people wake up - this is the end of of Canada and the end of the game.

This is delicate.

For centuries, we have told our military veterans that they were serving the Canadian people and even serving the queen. Sometimes that has been true. But Canadians in the Boer War were not serving Canada or the queen. They were serving the greed of wealthy British who wanted Africa's gold.

The Korean War? Get real. This was a war to help the U.S. get a  base for an invasion of China. It had nothing to do with Canada. Afghanistan was a war to add that country to the American empire.  But we don't say that. Do we?

We are now close to more war to serve American billionaires.

None of this is a criticism of the soldiers. It's a criticism of  how we lie to them when we are actually sending them to die for a cause that has nothing to do with us. We make war what it is not - glorious. And, sadly, a major force in spreading this lying and betrayal is The Canadian Legion.

Most of the world, including American allies, do NOT believe Iran was behind the attack on Saudi oilfields. (Trudeau will probably agree it did.)

In fact, for Iran to have made that attack would have been stunningly stupid. It gives the U.S. and Saudi Arabia the chance to invade Iran - which is something American billionaires strongly want. But it is a move which would be no advantage whatever to Iran. Funny how most of the Canadian news media have not noticed that.

Sept. 17:: These recent days are the most dangerous we have ever seen.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/ndp-quebec-platform-1.5284356

What Singh is offering Quebec is a major step to separation. In effect, it offers Quebec control over immigration, and the right to treat anglo-Quebeckers as non-citizens.
For a start, if Quebecois control their own immigration, that must mean they have the power to prevent Canadian citizens from going there. And it has the right to expel anglos.

And it must mean it has the right to severely control the rights of English-speaking people. This is a province already  makes it either difficult or illegal for stores to put English signs in their windows. (Next, will be the closing of anglo schools, forcing all  English children to study French.)

Sounds extreme? There are already moves in that direction.

Quebec, like most other provinces, is very, very racist - and that includes both French and English Quebeckers./Qeubecois.

What Singh proposes is a major step to Quebec separation. And we are already in a situation in which anglo-Quebeckers have fewer rights than Quebecois

A note on my bias. I was born in Quebec, and lived most of my life there. My family in Quebec dates back to 1650. But, at some time in  the mid-nineteenth century there was an anglo marriage and, eventually me. And that made me an, ugh, anglo. Worse -  Protestant.

I spent some twenty years of my life dealing with the attacks of French separatists.which included  riots, death threats, the torching of our offices... For the first twenty years of my life I lived in a district in which neighbours would attack ua as 'les riches Anglaise'. (It was a French district and a very poor one. But we 'riches Anglaise'  were the poorest ones in it.)

When our little, Protestant church was stoned and it's windows smashed in by a French gang, I was there when the nearby French Catholic priest said, "It's only a Protestant church."

So, yes, I am prejudiced.

Massive military spending in the U.S. has little to do with defence. It has much to do with creating monster profits for war industries. That's one reason  the U.S. can't afford adequate public schools or medicare or housing.  The war industries are there to create profits for billionaires. And the billionaires certainly aren't going to pay taxes. So the rest of the country has to suffer.

And we are very close, not least because the U.S. has become much more aggressive in its promises to use nuclear weapons.

Can it fight a serious war without nuclear weapons? There is nothing in the US military's performance since1945 to sugggest that it can. It couldn't beat North Korrea with other countries helping it. It couldn't beat a relatively primitive Vietnam. It can't beat Afghanistan (in 20 years) even when it is actually fighting only a part of that country.

Greta Thunberg is a child. But,, oh, what a child. And as I watched this post, I'm struck again by the drabness of Canadian politics.

Greta Thunberg is from Sweden, just 16 years old, and she has knocked the socks off lots of Americans on the issue of climate change. Canada has very little happening. Indeed, in comparison to the U.S. Canada is one hell of a boring place.

The U.S. has a real left-wing politician  with a following in the U.S. In comparison, Canada's Conservatives and Liberals are pretty drab stuff at a time when we need some more radical voices. I don't know of any Canadian politician I    could call progressive. Even the NDP and the Greenscould use a kick to get a move on.

But all we're likely to get out of our election is a cheering section for the kissups to big money.

The U.S., of course, has some  pretty awful leaders, and it will probably get another stinker for its next leader. But it has, at least, a Bernie Sanders who offers progressive ideas, and has a substantial following.

And, oh, the U.S. has a powerful spark in Greta Thunberg.

Sept. 14. No. The world is not getting better.

As Canada begins its federal elections, a big issue is whether abortions should be permitted. Now, we live in a world in which babies are not only killed in war, they are actually prime targets. That has been true since the 1940s. The U.S., in particular, has deliberately targeted civilians and children for it's bombers.

https://www.unicef.org/sowc96/1cinwar.htm

Note that this figure is out of date by a wide margin.  And such killing is quite deliberate. And it's quite new. The pioneer of bombing children as a deliberate policy of war  was Winston Churchill whose deliberate targets were undefended villages in the middle east. This was picked up some twenty years later for the allied bombing of Dresden in WW2.  The U.S. deliberately targeted defenceless civilian targets in Korea - and in Vietnam - and in Afghanistan - and in Iraq - and in Yemen among many, many others.

Nobody knows how many babies and children we've murdered since in the 20th and 21st centuries-  certainly over 20 million. And that doesn't count  the severely crippled for life, the traumatized, the orphaned.....

But we're Christians. So we wouldn't dream of abortion. Get out there, and vote for Jesus.

The U.S. has ruled that Bahamians fleeing the damage and lack of food in their country must not be permitted in the U.S. (They might be criminals. And, as we know, there are no criminals in the U.S.)

Virtually all of this world's scientists tell us that we are within sight of the end of the world we live in. They don't know how much time we have to deal with this.  But it may not be much.

So the emphasis  in the Canadian election is, of course, on abortion, Trudeau and SNC Lavalin, the corruption of Trudeau - and the Christian need to make the rich richer, reducing taxes for the rich.....

Can Canadians be so stupid as to ignore that greatest crisis in human history in this election?

Yep.

Oh, and we're also not hearing about the coming American invasion of our North.

The climate change that we are told isn't worth worth worrying about and isn't happening is rapidly melting all the ice of our north. And American capitalists (the same ones who say climate change isn't happening) are already preparing for the invasion of the Canadian north because, beneath all that ice are millions of tons of gold -----and oil.  And, oh, we need oil, don't we? Lots and lots of oil.

Remember the Trump attempt to buy Greenland? Watch for a repeat - with our Arctic. And watch for the Conservative party to be interested, especially the conservatives in our prairie provinces.

At last, the Gwynne Dyer column I've been waiting for.  I've followed Dyer for many, many years. He is far the most honest and intelligent commentator in the business. Are Canadian voters up to that standard? No. If they were, we wouldn't be voting for any of the parties in this election.

Post media is a far-flung operation that is one of the illegitimate children of Conrad Black. I don't know whether he believes what he says. I don't see how anyone could believe that. My best guess is that he sees himself as a superior being, and all his opinions are really reflections of his superiority.  In other words, this man is deluded. And, through post media, as he began it, he projected his superiority across the land.

I don't know whether post media is the worst journalism in Canada. Most Canadian news media, like New Brunswick's  Irving press, could give it a run for that title.

Almost all of Canada's news industry is propaganda and lies. That may explain why most Canadians vote Liberal or Conservative.

The U.S. corporate media are, essentially, propagandists. So are the Canadians ones. (and so are most such news media around the world.) They lie. They distort. They hide the truth.

And they've been doing it for 150 years.

Their reliance on the corporate media for their news is why Canadians are missing all this election should be about,  keeping Canadians in ignorance.
