And here's an unusual source to understand our debt crisis. - and to warn us that it is going to get worse unless we get serious about taxing the very rich.

Trump's style of government has been very similar to Hitler's. Hitler used Jews, stirring up hatred of them for things they didn't do. Trump uses Chinese, Latin Americans and refugees in general.

Alas! I was once a gun nut. I occasionally carried one when I was 20 or so and had a job that required me, occasionally, to deal with some pretty dangerous street gangs. (common sense should have told me that pulling a gun on five or ten vicious guys who might also have guns would not be a good idea.)
My final shift to sanity occurred when I visited a store in Texas selling submachine guns, military rifles, anti-tank guns ( really)...... People on the streets of that city openly wore guns.
Most recently, I was astonished when protestors armed with military rifles forced their way into a government building to demand the right to unlimited ownership of weapons. And dismayed when Trump declared that these people were good Americans....
With gun ownership in the U.S. now equal to total population and with the gun nuts enjoying the endorsement of the president, the U.S. is close to civil war.

Very nice. It would be even nicer if the Liberals and the Conservatives charged taxes on people who make $2,500 in minutes. And even nicer if the Liberals and Conservatives would stop throwing billions of our taxes into the arms of the super rich.

well - more correctly, we should be dealing with them.
Instead of that, we are throwing billions of dollars at the huge corporations that are the cause of the challenges.

Civilians have commonly been targets in war. That was very much pronounced in the British Empire, in the U.S. massacre of native peoples, in Churchill's bombing of civilians in the 1920s. The recent rise of it has much to do with the Allied bombing of Dresden in World War Two which targetted civilians Starting with North Korea after World War Two, civilians, including children, became the major targets for the U.S. Yes. Children down to babies are now standard targets.
God bless America.

Actually, it is hard for find any American president who has not been a killer. The U.S. began with presidents who murdered native peoples - especially women and children. Then, about 1900, they slid into killing Latin Americans and Phillipinos. Indeed, for the last century and more, the US has been obsessed with killing.

In 2,000 years of Christianity, I cannot think of a single case of a significant number of Christians and their clergy taking a stand against their political masters. Through all the horrors of British Empire with its years of slavery and mass murder, Where were the British churches? Where were the American Christians when native peoples were being ground to death like meat in a grinder. And one might ask that question about more than a few incidents in Canadian history. Where were they when the wealthy of Britain reduced the mass of British people to child labour and early death?
Make no mistake. This is not a criticism of the Christian faith. It's a criticism of how Christian churches wimp out at expressing Christian principles.
