Jan. 18: A relatively quiet day in the news....

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jan/18/trump-suleimani-iran-drone-strike

Can you imagine what the reaction would be if Iran had killed a U.S. president?

There's a price to pay for our refusal to deal with climate change. And that price will soon be ---us.

In a world of chaos, the president of the United States made it his duty to encourage school children to eat junk food. Incidentally, many millions of American children depend on school lunches. Gee! I wonder if the junk food industries helped him to decide.

"We've won the war. Now we've got to win the peace" (1945). But we never
even tried to win the peace. What we got instead was the American dream to rule the world - and to plunder it for  billionaires.

As we should have learned long ago, any privatization of health services creates greater costs and less service.

For all the respect it commands as North America's leading newspaper, the New York Times very often is misleading. Perhaps the leading example of this was in the 1950s and 1960s when NO commercial news medium in all of North America even mentioned the mass murder of at least 200.000 innocent Guatemalans by the CIA,  the American army of international killers hired from all over the world. Clergy were murdered in their churches, nuns in their residences.

The commander of that mass murder was George Bush Sr., a man much admired for his church attendance.

There is not the slightest chance of anyone winning or even surviving a nuclear war.

So why aren't we looking for an alternative? Why have we spent 70 years "improving" a system that can't to anybody any good? Why haven't we done something about winning the peace as we said we were going to do in 1945?

Let's see now. The U.S. is allowed to have all the nuclear missiles it wants. So is Israel. But an Iran, which stands to be attacked by nuclear missiles from the U.S. and Israel, is not allowed to have any.

This is a story that didn't make it into our own Ottawa newspapers. But, then, very few stories of any importance make it into our own Ottawa newspapers.

Yes, I know Hitler persecuted the Jews. But I also know the Palestinians did not persecute them.  Indeed, it was been quite the opposite.

What Hitler did killed Jews - and, to a large degree - it killed Judaism. And this was made worse by how gentiles around the world reacted to what Hitler did.

Gentiles knew what Hitler was doing to the Jews. And we gentiles didn't give a damn. We wouldn't give shelter to those Jews who escaped from Germany. And, when the war ended, we did not give a large part of Palestine to the Jews in order to help them. We gave them Palestine to get rid of our own Jews as well as those of the death camps.

Not surprisingly, that produced Jews who knew they had nothing to thank us  Christians for. And, from the start, they treated Palestinian Arabs much as Hitler had treated Jews.  And, in that process, they destroyed their own Judaism.

https://www.counterpunch.org/2020/01/17/baby-dinosaurs-on-noahs-ark/

Many years ago, an evangelical friend of mind became a missionary in Congo. There, he claimed to have seen Noah's ark.

Actually, the whole Noah's ark story is an impossible lie. For a start, animal species are an immense number. It was not remotely possible for a small number of people to have collected so many animals, and stuffed them into an ark no matter how big it was.

As well, it would have required Noah and his whole staff to have travelled around a planet with a circumference of 25,000 miles - and most of that circumference quite unknown to them - let alone being separated by thousands of miles of oceans. - not to mention the problem of how they would have reached and collected Polar bears at the north pole and penguins at the south. The middle east would be a long walk back for your average penguin.

They would also have had to capture millions of species of birds and insects - most of them from lands without human life or knowledge - not to mention the problem of accommodating them on an ark which also would have needed storage for many, many tons of whatever their diets were. And then the  bumble bees and grasshoppers and penguins would have had to get back home to lands that hadn't even been discovered yet - and with none of their necessary food en route.

Adam and Eve pose the same problem - and more. Whatever colour they may have been, where did the other colours come from?

The idea all this could have happened is obvious nonsense. But that's what Trump followers believe. - just as they also believe we should murder people all over the world.

Canada is NOT independent from the United States. It is an errand boy for American aggression just as it once was an errand boy for Britain in its invasion of Africa and theft of it's gold fields.

And the big chapter may be yet to come as climate changes, the U.S. loses land,
and needs an extension into Canada for displaced Americans and for resources.

The very misleading use of the word 'terrorist' might resonate with Americans and with the West in general. But think about it.
The people of Afghanistan are terrorists? But the people of Afghanistan did not attack the U.S. The U.S. attacked them.
Iran did not attack the U.S. The U.S. attacked it.
No Latin American country has ever attacked the U.S. But the U.S. has murdered and impoverished uncounted numbers of people in Latin America.
In Vietnam, it was Americans who slaughtered large numbers of civilians, who poisoned their food supply with a gas that is still killing children.
The biggest terrorist nation in today's world is the United States as Britain was before it. Funny our news media have never noticed this.

Are there any real Christians out there? The Christian churches have been puppets for this world's thieves and murderers for almost 2000 years. And, even by those standards, the evangelicals are the worst.

Hitler was evil in his wars?  So he was. So we defeated Hitler. But we defeated Hitler with a Britain that had an even more brutal record. And we have created a U.S. that is today' leading Nazi state.
