The Quebec premier is full of it. There was a French Protestant church in Montreal as early as 1850. Some of my French ancestors attended it.
When I was a child, French Quebec was massively Roman Catholic. Church parades clogged the streets. Nuns could be seen more than a hundred at a time as they walked like an army from their convents. Crosses were everywhere - court rooms, offices. A huge one still towers over Montreal's Montain.
Today, nuns scarcely exist. Catholic churches that still exist are a small minority.
76% of French Quebeckers might call themselves Catholic. But most of those never go to church And this has been going on for at least fifty years.
I suppose the premier was looking for an excuse for the province's vicious and racist anti-muslim laws.

The U.S. launched a mass murder of at least 200,000 Guatemalan civilians - and destroyed democracy wherever it appeared in Latin America. The U.S. also built it's own, murderous empire in the Middle East. It, with our help, tried to force North Korea to become a base for a western attack on China.
In 1945, Canada cooperated in helping the U.S. to become the dominant figure in a world very similar to the one that gave us two world wars. Who won World War 2?
We all lost. We all now live in something resembling Hitler's war.

Why was the war fought at all? Afghanistan did not threaten the U.S. (It had nothing to do with 9/11. That was a Saudi operation.) In fact, the war part of Afghanistan had just finished beating off the Russians in an attack just like the American one.

There is lots of the usual stuff about terrorism, and how evil it is. Quite so. But all wars are fought by terrorists. Terrorism is what war is about. The Saudi starvation of children is terrorist - but our news media never call it that.
When the U.S. killed one and a half million Iraqis, most of them innocent people, what was that if not terrorism? The CIA murders of 200 thousand Guatemalans, with special attention to priests and nuns, was surely terror. What were the mass murders and land thefts by Canada, the U.S., and Latin America. the ones against our indigenous people, if not terrorism?
I still remember the signs on VE day. "We've won the war. Now we've got to win the peace."
But we didn't win the peace. We didn't even try. Now, we're going to pay one hell of a price for that. Look for internal and severe strife even in Canada and the U.S. Maybe especially in Canada and the U.S.
The whole British Empire which murdered 400 million people was surely terrorism.
